How to Install a Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2011 GMC Acadia
Question:
Hi I am trying to purchse a trailer wiring harness for my 2011 GMC Acadia. Every part I search online says to get the round connector. My vehicle has a connector inside the trim of the passenger side wheel well. The connecter is not round but flat with two rows. It looks like the trailer wiring harness for a 2013 or older Acadia. Any idea here? Picture is attached. Thanks!!

The plug you are referring to in the photo will not be used to install a trailer connector on your 2011 GMC Acadia. The correct way to install a trailer connector on your Acadia would depend on if you have the factory tow package or not. This is an important distinction to make and in order to be sure you know exactly what you have, you will need to obtain your VIN and contact the manufacturer directly.
If you do not have the factory tow package then the connections you will need to make to install a trailer wiring harness are behind the taillights and for this I recommend using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118451. If you do have the factory tow package then the connector you will need to access is round and will be located under the vehicle. For this I recommend using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118384.
I have attached an install video on an Acadia without the factory tow package for you as well.
