Question:

Looking for a manual winch that can pull cars on to a trailer that has a cranking ratio that doesnt require 50 turns per inch of travel. Any recommendations? Thank you.

The type of manual winch I suggest for your car trailer is a worm gear type which prevents the car from rolling backwards even if you let go of the handle.

Winch capacity for your application with a rolling load on an incline does not need be very high. As an example, a 2500-lb rolling load on a 10% incline requires only a 500-lb-rated winch. Please refer to the linked article.

The Dutton-Lainson 2K Worm Gear Hand Winch # DL11004 can be operated either by the included handle or with the included socket that allows use of a cordless drill which can make winching much, much faster. It offers a 40:1 cranking ratio and with it you can use strap # DL24242.
