Recommended Curt Weight Distribution System for 2018 Rockwood Trailer with 900 lb Dry Tongue Weight
Question:
We are purchasing a 2018 Rockwood 32foot trailer with a base dry hitch weight of 900lbs. But I read that you should also add weight for cargo. So we are trying to decide if we should go with the C17500 or the C17501? The weight seems to fall right in between the 2 of them. We are pulling it with a 2013 F250.

Great question. The base dry hitch weighing 900 lbs is a factor, but you will most definitely want the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # C17501 for this application. The reasoning is that you need to account for loaded weight on the tongue of your hitch which will not only include the loaded cargo of your trailer, but it also accounts for any weight behind the rear axle of your towing vehicle.
If you went with the 1000 lb max capacity # C17500, then you would be over capacity really easily, where the # C17501 gives you room to have the loaded weight of your trailer along with cargo behind the rear axle of your truck pass 100 lbs which isn't much.
