Where Should Tire Chains for 2006 Subaru Outback be Positioned?

Question:

I have a 2006 subaru outback with AWD, is it necessary when I chain up to put chains on all four tires? Or can I get away with only putting them on the back tires? Will this mess up my all-wheel-drive?

I took a look at the owner's manual of the 2006 Subaru Outback and it stated that tire chains should be put on the front wheels only. I recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern # TC1553 which will fit your Subaru if you have the standard 225/55-17 tires that came with the Subaru.

The owners manual also states that the tire chains must be SAE Class S chains and to drive under 20 mph. I have included links to video reviews of these chains for you to take a look at as well.
