Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver Compatible with Thule T2 Pro XTR on 2014 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Im looking at your Thule T2 Pro XTB. I currently dont have a hitch installed on my 2014 Toyota Highlander. I saw on your site that theres an issue with the factory installed 2inch hitch, but Im wondering if I can get a different type of aftermarket hitch to accommodate my #1 choice in tray racks. Thanks for your expert opinion!

For your 2014 Toyota Highlander, the Thule bike racks are not a fit based on Thule's warranty due to the pin hole location on the OEM hitches. There are a couple of options to keep the warranty in tact with a Thule accessory. One option is to replace your trailer hitch receiver with an aftermarket option like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98844 confirmed to fit your 2014 Highlander. This is the best option. Another work around option is to use a small adapter like # e88YR which will reduce your tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50% which normally isn't an issue with a 2 bike rack like the T2 Pro.
The Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting - Black # TH83JV is a great bike rack, so I can see why it is your first choice. The ratcheting hooks for your wheels, large wheel cradles and adjustable width bike trays are just a couple cool features. The integrated bike locks give you security and peace of mind, and the option to expand to 4 bikes with the adapter # TH9036XT is another perk. I definitely recommend not using the hitch extender if you go to the 4 bike rack.
