How Much of Trailer Tongue Needs to Fit Inside Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit for 3 Inch Tongue

Question:

Im wanting to install the 3x3inch Fulton Fold Away Swing Tongue coupler on my boat trailer. I cant find how much of the 3x3inch tube i need to bolt the coupler to the trailer. I only have about 3. Its going to be very tight and it would really help to know the length from the end of the coupler to the pivot hinge so i can confirm my measurements. I also have surge brakes. I found the flexible hose with the male/female fittings but I will need to cut and shorten the steel tube thats currently connected to the surge cylinder. Can you tell me what fitting I will need to connect the cut end of the steel tube to the female fitting on the flex hose? thanks for your help.

The Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit # FHDPW330300 referenced in your question is compatible with 3 inch x 3 inch trailer tongues. The tongue on your trailer will just need to go in at least 3 inches on each side of the Hinge Kit. If you have this length available, this will work great to create up to a 48 inch foldaway trailer tongue.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this product that you can also check out.

For the brake lines and actuator on your trailer, it sounds like you are looking at the Titan Hydraulic Brake Line with Fittings # T0980100. This flexible hose is perfect for use on foldaway trailer tongues like the Fulton and will connect to your actuator's master cylinder. The female fitting will attach to the male fitting on your brake line. You can shorten your existing brake line by simply coiling it inside the stationary part of the tongue or by cutting the line and simply reinstalling the fitting for use with the flexible line.
