Recommended Parts Needed to Carry an E-Bike and Tow a Boat Trailer

Question:

Looking for an E-bike rack that holds 1 bike but then also has a hitch so we can pull our drift boat trailer. What do you recommend?

I do have a solution for you, but there are no E-bike racks that have a ball mount to tow with.

What you will instead need to use is the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers # D210 along with an E-bike rack. The Multipurpose Ball Mount is rated for 750 lbs Tongue Weight (TW) and 7,500 lbs Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) but you will need to check the weight capacities of your trailer hitch receiver and your tow vehicle to determine what your TW and GTW is since the least rated piece of equipment will be your limiting factor. The shank on this fits 2 inch hitch receivers.

Keep in mind that you will need a hitch pin and clip, like part # PC3, and also a hitch ball to pull your boat trailer. The hitch ball will just need to have a shank diameter of 1 inch. You could use part # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball or part # 63845 for a 2 inch hitch ball.

When it comes to a bike rack that is rated for an electric bike we do have a few options for you. I recommend going with the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 because of all of the convenient features it has to offer. It can accommodate any bike frame-style because it secure them with adjustable clamps for the frame and wheel straps for the wheels. It can also tilt and fold by activating the lever located at the front of the bike rack and it comes with a ramp for loading and unloading of the E-bike(s). It also comes with locks to secure both your bike rack and your bike(s).

For a more economical option you can go with the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR. This is a more basic version of a bike rack, but it does have the ability to tilt and fold, plus it comes with locks to secure your bike rack and bike(s). If your bike has a step-through frame then I recommend using the Hollywood Racks Bike Frame Adapter Bar # HRBA-PRO so that the ratcheting hooks have a secure location to hold your bike.

I have attached some review videos that you can check out for more information.
