Recommended Aftermarket Prodigy Trailer Brake Controller for 2012 Ram 3500
Question:
OK, like many other I have the RAM factory installed OEM trailer brake controller that just does not work. It keeps reporting the trailer, multiple trailers, are not connected. I will gladly replace the OEM unit with an aftermarket unit. I do not want to mess around and prefer the best unit that will be a simple installation. Please give me some direction as to what to order.

Welcome to etrailer... you came to the right place for a reliable trailer brake controller.
I suggest you go for the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195, which is among the most popular such products. All of the Prodigy series trailer brake controllers have proven themselves to be exceptionally reliable but in particular the P3 distinguishes itself. Please have a look at some of the glowing reviews from more than 1800 of our customers that have purchased this particular controller.
The Prodigy P3 will work with both electric and electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes, it includes built-in diagnostics to make any troubleshooting much easier, it allows mounting at any vertical angle and it allows you to store preferred settings, a great help when you tow more than one trailer.
In your Ram 3500 installation is a simple as plugging in the two ends of the custom wiring adapter # 3021-P. The linked video illustrates installation and the included article will help you complete the install.
