Recommended Anti-Rattle Device for 2 inch Hitch-Mounted Cargo Rack on 2017 Subaru Forester
Question:
I have a 2 inch that I use with a cargo rack. It rattles quite a bit. It seems to have play in both left right and up down. I looked at your anti rattle products and was a little overwhelmed, what would you recommend? I am looking for something easy to put on/take off.

There are a few different types of anti-rattle devices that differ in how they actually work to reduce the movement of a hitch accessory like your Cargo Rack.
I recommend using a threaded pin device, as this will do the best job at cutting down on movement while also replacing the standard hitch pin with one that can be locked, thus is able to deter theft of any accessory you have mounted. The Let's Go Aero Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 is a great option that will dramatically reduce movement and vibration of your cargo rack. It works by using a threaded block that is placed inside the shank of your cargo rack or other accessory, and is then pulled to the side of the hitch receiver by the threaded pin until it is tight against the inner wall. This prevents any movement inside the hitch. As long as the shank of your cargo carrier is hollow without a welded nut inside, this is a perfect option.
If the shank of your cargo rack is not hollow, or you plan on using this device with any other accessory that may not have a hollow shank, I recommend instead using a sleeve device like the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061. This device works by simply torquing down over the accessory's shank to reduce movement.
I have attached video demonstrations for both of these products so you can get a visual as to how they work as well as a helpful article about anti-rattle devices for you to look at.
