Recommended Manual Winch For Clothesline Application

Question:

I am looking for a manual winch to use for a clothesline of 75-80 feet. For my application, I put the line up when I need it and then want to be able to wind up the line when not in use. Is there a manual winch that would work for this application?

You can use a manual winch for clothesline. For the length you want, I recommend using the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch - TUFFPLATE Finish - Single Speed - 12' Strap # DL16003. You would have to remove the strap, but this will give you a max drum capacity of 1/8" x 87 foot. I recommend getting the Bulldog Winch Wire Rope for Part No. 10002 - 8.3mm x 30.5m # BDW20109. You can simply cut off whatever doesn't fit on the spool on the back side.

Another option if you want the more traditions style winch is the above cable along with the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch with TUFFPLATE Finish, Single Speed - 1,800 lbs. # DL14627.
