The adjustable RV hitches that we carry are rated by tongue weight and gross trailer weight. The Curt Adjustable RV Hitch, # 13703, that is adjustable from 22 inches to 72 inches has a tongue weight rating a 350 lbs and a max gross trailer rating at 3,500 lbs. The measurement is the mounting distance allowed for the hitch. This hitch can be mounted on a motor home or trailer frame with a width between 22 and 77 inches.

The weight capacities for this hitch might sound light for a motor home or trailer, but you need to know that most RV tongue weight and towing capacities are lower than what people might expect. Before selecting a hitch, you will need to know the towing capacities of your coach or trailer.

Curt does offer a Class III adjustable hitch, # C13701, that has a higher tongue and gross trailer capacity. This Curt hitch has a 500 lbs tongue weight and a gross towing capacity of 5,000 lbs. The hitch can be adjusted between 18 inched and 55 inches.

Again, you will need to know what the tongue weight rating and gross trailer capacity of what every you will be mounting the hitch on to see which will work for your application.
