Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer with a 2012 Subaru Impreza with Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver
Question:
About the curt 11286 hitch for a Subaru Impreza, after I install, where do I get a ball for the hitch? And how does that install into the hitch? Plan on towing a small boat and I believe the trailer has a 1 3/4 receiver. Thanks!

Once you've installed the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11286 on your 2012 Subaru Impreza you can add a ball mount and hitch ball to tow a trailer. Before you select a ball mount you'll want to make sure you know the rise or drop you'll need with your trailer. I've linked an article to help you determine what you need.
I've also linked our selection of Class I ball mounts for you to look at once you know what you need.
Then you'll need a hitch ball. Your trailer's coupler probably fits a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball like # 19256. This has a 3/4 inch shank diameter. You'll need to select a hitch ball that has the shank diameter to fit the ball mount you decide on. I've linked our selection of 1-7/8 inch hitch balls for you as well.
You'll also need a wiring harness to power your boat trailer's lights. The Tekonsha # 118573 will provide a 4-way trailer connector for you. It installs by plugging into the Impreza's wiring behind both tail lights.
