Can Curt Hitch Receiver for RVs # C13702 Mount onto I-Beam Frame of Rockwood Ultralite Trailer

Question:

Looking to put a hitch on my rockwood ultralite that has a I beam frame. Saw the Curt 13703 installation instructions include box, c channel and I beam mounting. But I would like to install a Curt 13702 for the 500lb tw. It only shows mounting in a box channel in the installation instructions. Wondering if its okay to mount the 13702 on my I beam?

I spoke with our contact at Curt and he informed me that for the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, part # C13702, it is not recommended to mount this onto your RV's I-Beam. The reason for this is that when mounting a trailer hitch onto an I-Beam, you will need both vertical and horizontal mounting holes. The Curt # C13702 uses only vertical mounting holes.

If you are needing to mount the Trailer Hitch onto your I-Beam, I recommend the Curt # 13703 as it is designed specifically for this purpose. This Trailer Hitch is a Class III, 2 inch receiver opening with a Maximum Trailer Weight of 3,500 lbs. I have included a video demonstration of this product for your review.
