The only trailer hitch available for the 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 is a Class I hitch # C11105. The recommended ball mount is # C45520. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19257 and for a 2 inch use # 19258. For trailer wiring use # 118344 to add a 4-Way flat connector to the rear of the vehicle.

If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.

Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or cargo carrier) per their warranty requirements. I have included links to the Class I, 2-bike racks and Class I cargo carriers for you.
