What Towbar and Baseplate Kit are Needed for Towing the 2011 Chevy Equinox
Question:
what tow bar and baseplate are recommended for towing a 2011 chevy equinox

Expert Reply:
The Roadmaster EX4 Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms, item # RM-523160-4, is the correct base plate kit for your 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The RoadMaster Sterling All Terrain Tow Bar with 6-Wire Electric Cord - 6,000 lbs, item # RM-576 that you selected would be an excellent choice for towing your vehicle if your motorhome has a 2 inch hitch mounted at the rear.
With the Sterling All Terrain Tow Bar and the EZ4 base plate kit you will get the safety cables and the 6 wire wiring needed to span the gap between the tow vehicle and the towed vehicle. You will need to add wiring to the Equinox to complete your setup.
You can wire the Equinox with the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, item # RM-154. We have a video review of this wiring being installed on a 2006 Liberty for you to review. With the Sterling All Terrain Tow Bar you will also need two 4-Way Round vehicle end connectors, item # RM-910030-7 to connect the back of the motor home to the wire on the tow bar and the towed vehicle.
That should get you going. Other items you might want to consider now, or at a later date, are the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screening, item # RM-4700, or Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard, item # RM-4000 and a braking system like the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, item # RM-9400, to help stop both vehicles safely and conserve the brakes on your motor home.
