What Trailer Connector Is Needed For A 2010 Chevrolet Silverado With Factory Trailer Wiring Harness
Question:
Do I need Both the PK11916 mount and the 7 pole to 4 pole adapter. I am thinking the adapter fits into the PK11916. The truck already has a female wiring harness on the left side of the license plate. Thanks

On your 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 you will only need one of the trailer connectors. The Pollak Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Connector, # PK11916, is a twist-in design that is designed to fit into the pre-existing cutout on your truck. I am sending a video link that will show this part being installed on a 2009 Chevy Silverado.
The Hopkins 7 and 4-pole Trailer Connector, # HM40975, will also work on your vehicle, but the socket will not be able to be installed in the pre-existing cutout on the bumper of your vehicle. It will have to be attached to the bumper with the included mounting bracket and then the wiring harness on your vehicle will plug into the back of the socket. I am sending a video link of this part being installed on a 2001 Chevy Tahoe.
The Hopkins 7 and 4-pole connector gives you the extra 4-pole connector so you will be able to tow a trailer with a 4-pole without having to use a plug-in adapter.
