How Many Adapters Is Needed to Install Transmission Cooler in 1997 Chevy K1500
Question:
I have a 1997 Chev K1500 with a 350 engine and am purchasing a 3300# empty travel trailer. Would like either a trans cooler or a trans/ engine oil cooler. D13503 looks like a good cooler for trans only- do I need one or two of the D13018 adapters ? If I go with the engine oil/ trans cooler as a single unit, what do you recommend for the 97 K1500? Oil filter clearance is tight already. Thanks

The Derale cooler part # D13503 is a great choice for your 1997 Chevy K1500. You would only need one of the part # D13018 fitting adapter as it comes with two sides. One to use on the radiator to get the line to the transmission cooler and then the other one to attach back to the disconnected transmission cooler line that was removed.
If oil filter clearance is already pretty tight I wouldn't recommend an oil cooler as they take up a bit of space that it sounds like you don't have. Is the truck running hot? Most modern vehicles don't really benefit much from oil coolers actually. In a lot of cases the coolers aren't recommended at all as they can lower oil pressure.
