Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Audi Q5
Question:
Good morning, I am interested in installing a trailer hitch on my 2015 Audi Q5 2.0. Primary use will be for bike rack or cargo carrier like C18152. I am reviewing both the draw-tite and curt hitch. My concern with the Curt is that it attached to the fuel tank I think while draw-tite is not. I like the draw-tite but has a lower tongue weight. Your thoughts

Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75940 does not attach to the gas tank on a 2015 Audi Q5. It installs like the factory hitch would. I have linked the instructions for you to view.
If you are talking about Hidden Hitch model 87603 it is going to be discontinued but it also does not attach to the gas tank. It has that center attachment point that connects to a cross member forward of the trunk pan. I think you might be confusing the trunk pan with the gas tank.
The Draw-Tite hitch will be the most hidden with only the receiver showing where as the others will hang lower and have the cross tube visible. The Curt hitch, # C13136, attaches at the center to the trunk pan meaning you will have to drill through the trunk pan.
The tongue weight capacity of the Curt hitch is moot but only because the vehicle itself is rated lower (400 to 440 pounds; consult your owner's manual to confirm). But the Draw-Tite hitch # 75940 has the same tongue weight capacity, 750 pounds, as the Curt. Since the vehicle is rated lower you will have to go by the lower rating.
To maximize the capacity of a cargo carrier I recommend going with a lighter option such as # C18113 which is aluminum and weighs just 25 pounds. By comparison the carrier you mentioned # C18152 weighs 64 pounds.
