RV-Rated Bike Rack Recommendations for Class A Motorhome
Question:
Im looking at the XC to put on our class A which is pretty much straight back. It appears that on the XC, its 10.5inch from edge of the receiver to the center of the rack. That means that max distance length of one side of the bike handle bar can not exceed 10.5inch correct?? Our handle bars are longer 12 -14. What is the best solution, loosen handle bar or get an extension for the hitch?

A hitch extension would seem to be the ideal solution for your circumstances with insufficient bike clearance at the back of your RV, but any type of extension like # C45791 will cost you half of your hitch capacity. Hitch adapters/extenders cause this loss of capacity because they change the geometry of the system, allowing for more stress to be applied to the hitch tube because the actual load is further away.
A better option is an RV-rated bike rack that provides enough clearance without requiring the hitch extender. This means no loss of hitch capacity and a safer way to go.
For instance the Swagman Dispatch platform rack # S44FR provides 12-inches of clearance from the hitch pin hole to the closest wheel tray. This comes with the locks to deter theft. You'll also need a bolt-on bumper hitch, part # UF35-946402.
