The replacement trailer 7-way plug I recommend is a Hopkins product. We offer the 8-foot trailer connector # H20046 as well as other lengths you can see by clicking on the page link provided.
These Hopkins molded plugs use a superior contact design that tends to have fewer problems than others.
You may need a junction box like # 38656 and ring terminals like # DW05702-1 and # 44-5310A for wiring in the new trailer-side plug. Dielectric grease like # 11755 applied to the ring terminals will help prevent corrosion and connectivity issues by preventing entry of moisture and other contaminants.
