Parts Needed to Install a Battery on a Trailer for Wiring Up Interior Lights
Question:
Hello, I just purchased an enclosed trailer, I was thinking of using the cigarete lighter or whatever the term is I have in the back of the car to send power to the trailer, I only have 4 pin hitch wiring, If there is a better option please tell me what you have. But Im looking for the products i would need to run from inside the car charging spot to a battery in the trailer, then to a light or two in the dome of the trailer and possibly a light on the back of the trailer all ran off switches, Im very familiar with electrical for houses but not so much trailers, What product would you suggest to be the most cost effective and inexpensive LED slim fixtures inside the trailer, that I could then wire to the battery, Also Any specific products you sell to protect the wood floor on the bottom of the cargo trailer? And any specific batteries you would reccomend to go with this, is there a problem with me putting the battery inside the trailer.

For what you are trying to do the first thing you will need is the part # 37185 to convert your 4-way to a 7-way so that you will have the ability to have a 12 volt accessory circuit for your trailer. You will then need to use a length of # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) to connect the 7-way to the vehicle battery through a circuit breaker like part # 9510.
You will then need to replace the 7-way on your trailer with the part # H20042. This will give you the additional 12 volt circuit for your trailer's battery/aux circuits. Now for the LED lights you can either power them directly from this circuit or you can install a trailer battery that you can draw from as well. To wire up the battery would only require you to run the 12 volt circuit to the positive post of the battery and then everything else (the lights) from it. A car battery tends to work the best for this type of thing.
For a cost-effective interior light the part # RVILL34 is very popular. Its pretty bright and easy to install as well.
We have a universal utility mat that could be used on your trailer floor, part # DZ85005 that measures 8 feet long and 4 feet wide.
