Replacement Leaf Springs for a Boat Trailer Rated for 3,740 Pounds Gross Trailer Weight
Question:
The rating plate on the boat trailer says GVW 3740 lb the leaf springs are a 5 leaf and after taking one off it measures 26inch center of eye to eye and the arch measures 4-3/8inch they are double eye 1.75 wide, which size do I need and also what size are the bolts that holds the springs to hangers 1/2inch with 9/16 sleeves / there is a little play in the rear spring hanger that has a metal round center with a bushing, not ovaled hole looks good is that bushing replaceable also or is this normal?

The double-eye spring we have that is closest to the measurements you have provided is # e27SR. It measures 26 inches eye center to eye center, is 3-3/4 inches from the top center of the stack to the centerline of the eyes, and has 6 leaves. The spring has a capacity of 2,250 pounds. If you can tell me the center to center distance between the hangers then that can help determine the right replacement spring, too.
This spring uses 9/16 inch bolts such as # 166081.
The hanger that you mentioned sounds similar to # 30-20. On this type of hanger the spring attaches to it via shackle straps instead of the eye fitting inside of the hanger. If the holes are not oval then it would not have to be replaced. With suspension anything that needs to be replaced on one side should be replaced on both sides so everything wears the same and the trailer tracks properly behind the tow vehicle.
