Brake Controller Installation Procedure-2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Question:

I have a 2007 FJ Cruiser with the 4 pin trailer connector installed already, I need to convert it to a 7 blade connector and also install a brake controller. What do you suggest? Can I use my 4 pin to run the trailer lights and add 3 wires for the brake controller? I already have the 7 blade /4 pin connector that plugs into the existing 4 pin connector and my trailer light all work, however I need to energize the brake circuit and install the brake controller I was going to use: 1. Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller #90885 and 2. Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller ETBC7 But really dont need to rewire the existing 4 pin wiring. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 controller, part # 90885 and our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7 are exactly what's needed to install a brake controller on your vehicle.

If your FJ Cruiser already has a functional 4-pole connector, you're all set. There's no need whatsoever to replace the current 4-pole, as long as it's working correctly. This being said, if you already have the adapter to convert your existing 4 pole to a 7-way, I'd recommend getting the # 5506 install kit. This way, you won't be paying for the 4-pole to 7-way adapter that you already have.

I've linked you to the instructions for the install kit, as well as to an install video showing the kit being used to install a brake controller on a 2008 FJ Cruiser.
