Availability of Folding 3 x 3-Inch Trailer Tongue Coupler for Aluminum Trailer
Question:
I have a 3x3 Shorelander aluminum trailer and would like to purchase a bolt on swing tongue hinge but everyone Ive looked at is for a steel trailer only. Can you suggest any product that would work with an aluminum trailer?

We do offer a number of different fold-away couplers for various sizes of straight trailer tongues but these are intended only for use on steel trailer frames. Aluminum trailers, for all their good non-corrosive and lightweight nature, are simply not strong enough to allow the attachment of a hinged tongue mechanism like # FHDPB330301 and the others shown on the linked page.
You can make absolutely sure by contacting Shorelander with your trailer's VIN number. As the maker of your trailer they get the final word but I will be surprised (and glad for you too) if they advise you can install a folding coupler on the trailer.
In your 3 x 3 tongue size we offer both a weld-on hinge # FHDPW330300 and the bolt-on unit # FHDPB330301 that you referenced.
