I do like the Curt Aluminum Cargo Carrier, part # C18113 as an option if you were to add a lockable box on top of it.

My wife and I used Tow Ready part # 63153 on a summer fishing trip to Canada, 16 hour drive each way. We had no complaints with that carrier. Plenty of space for all our stuff and the rails provide good anchor points for straps. If your particular state requires lights, there is a pre-fit kit for the Tow Ready carrier, part # 20174.

My next carrier will be the etrailer part # e98874. This carrier has a folding shank, so when not in use, the carrier can be folded up and out of the way without having to remove it from the vehicle. Storage space was not available at our cabin in Canada, so we had to leave it on the whole trip. If our carrier folded, it would have been easier in parking lots.

If you choose to use a folding carrier you need to make sure you have the bumper clearance on your Traverse. The # e98874 carrier measures 9-1/2 inches from the hitch pin hole to the carrier when it is folded up. You will need to measure your hitch and bumper to make sure you have the clearance and the carrier will not hit the bumper when folded.

All these cargo carriers I mentioned are for 2 inch hitches. All the hitches we have available for a 2010 Traverse are 2 inch, but I am not sure what the hitch options are from the factory. If you have a 1-1/4 inch hitch, please let me know and I will provide some recommendations for that size.
