Question:
Why are these chains listed as on road only ?

Expert Reply:
There reason the snow tire chains such as Pewag # PWE2228SC are listed as on-road only will depend on how a tire is made.
Based on your tire size 265-75-16, the Pewag snow tire chains # PWE2228SC will be a great choice because of the steel square links. Square links are top notch and will provide great traction in the snow and superb grip on ice.
As a side note, always check your vehicle owners manual to ensure there are no restrictions on use of tire chains.
I added a installation video and informative article for you to look at.
