Safety Chain Hook Recommendation for a 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500HD

Question:

Hi, we just purchased a 2011 Silverado 2500HD, which has a seriously heavy duty hitch. Problem is, the hooks of my safety chains wont securely attach. Im thinking a clevis hook might work, but I dont what size to get? Hopefully someone is familiar with these newer GM hitches. Thanks.

I have a clevis hook that may work. Take a look at part # 6495-401-04 . This hook has a working load limit up to 5,400 lbs and the pin that connects through the chain is 7/16 of an inch in diameter.

The Curt Clevis Hook, # C81970 , has a 40,000 lb weight capacity and the pin that connects through the chain is just over half of an inch (.52 inches) in diameter. This hook was designed for heavy-duty applications such as gooseneck trailers, but it may work with your trailer if the chains are large enough.

You will need to measure the safety chain loops on your truck to determine which of these would work the best for you.
