Torque Specification for Lugs Nuts on 5/8-Inch Stud on Dexter Hub

Question:

how much torque?

Expert Reply:

The appropriate torque spec for any application will vary depending on the construction of the wheel as well as on the stud size. I suggest checking the wheels you're using to see if their manufacturer has a suggested torque rating. Steel trailer wheels, for example, will usually have a higher torque spec than an aluminum wheel on a vehicle.

In general, 1/2-inch studs typically have a torque range of 75 to 85 foot pounds; 9/16-inch studs range from 135 to 145 foot pounds; 5/8-inch studs run from 190 to 210 foot pounds.

Please refer to the linked diagram.
