There is a trick to disengaging the brake.
You would remove power from the motor. Then you will squeeze the two prongs within the rubber handle. You will either press down on the handle and turn, or you will squeeze handle, pull up and turn to disengage the brake. You would then be able to move slide in manually by hand.

No vent cover on the market is tall enough to let the vent to fully open lid, but this is known by the manufacturers who all state that the covers allow the lids to open enough for the vent to properly operate. The Northern Breeze trailer vent has been discontinued, and as such there are few replacement parts available now, and that includes the screen. While I know it is not exactly what you wanted to hear, the best option available is to replace your Northern Breeze vent.

A hitch extender will not reduce the capacity of a cargo carrier itself, though most extenders do have a max 350 lb tongue weight limit, such as the Trailer Hitch Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers - 18" Long # e48YR.

Recreational trailers have either leaf spring axles or torsion axles. A leaf spring axle is easy to identify since it will be bolted to a leaf spring stack. A torsion axle does not use leaf springs to absorb road shock; instead the axle tube contains 4 rubber cords that provide the flexing to absorb shock.
