Locks are primarily deterrents to theft. No lock on any given product can absolutely prevent theft, and just as you say with enough time and the correct tools a nasty person could steal just about anything. If your pickup were parked unguarded for a long time a thief might instead steal your truck wheels since they at least can be rolled!

I checked the online version of the owner's manual for your 2017 Ram 3500 and the only thing that it stated in regards to trailer wiring is that it is already run. Because of this and the picture you sent in it looks like someone may have modified the wiring on your Ram. I can give you some pointers on how to install a 7-Way but unfortunately I don't know what color wire is for what function in your picture.

When we have reached out to Tekonsha about this same situation for a 2019 Ram 1500 they said that the connector for the adapter # 3024-P is actually located behind the center console area and that you'll need to reach behind the dash (from the driver's side by the pedals) and around a metal brace to get to the connector for a brake controller like the P3 # 90195.

On the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 25,000 lbs # BWRVK3600, the moving components of the locking jaws need to be lubed but the pin does not need lube. These jaws are the only part of the hitch that requires grease for maintenance other than the puck locks where the mechanism needs to turn. I spoke with my contact at Lets Go Aero regarding the TwinTube U-Built-It Slide-Out Hitch Rack # HMK901 that you referenced and she stated that a little bit of overhang past the twin tubes on your box won't be an issue at all. She said that they actually have used larger boxes than your 28 inch x 48 inch x 22 inch unit on this particular rack. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C58DR which is a fit for a 2018 Ram ProMaster 2500 requires a battery connection for power. The battery connection is actually what powers the trailer lights, the t-connectors just pull signal from the vehicle lights, not power. The power must come from a battery, preferably the vehicle battery which gets frequent charges from the alternator.
