From the research I did on your 2012 Audi A6 it looks like to remove the trunk liner you will need to remove the warning triangle that is in your trunk and then remove the screw that holds the emergency release handle in place.

There are many possible ways of making the cuts in the plastic appearance panel, including tin snips, a utility knife with a fresh blade or a Dremel tool.
