Canoe Carriers for Use on Malone MicroSportXT Trailer
Question:
We have a Malone Microsport and see considering getting the 84inch ? cross bars to mount two side by side canoes. The bars would be about 4inch longer than both boatsfoot combined width, so were considering the Megawings to crane them from their centers from below versus being unable to lash to top down canoe end mounts. Would the Megawings support a canoe? We have the Old Town Saranac. Thanks!

The Malone MicroSportXT trailer # MPG460XT does come with 78-inch square crossbars and these are the widest part of the entire trailer. Longer crossbars could pose a hazard so I do not recommend changing.
Since the Old Town Saranac 146 has a base weight of 79-lbs and a width of 36-inches your existing bars should work fine to let you use two of the Malone MegaWing Carrier # MPG207. Each MegaWing carrier can handle boats up to 150-lbs.
If you prefer a carrier that will allow you to transport the canoes hull side up then you might want to consider the Yakima KeelOver Canoe Carrier # Y04069 which holds the canoes at their gunwales like the Malone BigFoot # MPG112MD. Both carriers fit the square bars on your Malone trailer.
