One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

Most passenger cars do not have factory installed transmission coolers, including the Vision in all likelihood. On that car you will find a radiator for cooling the engine block and an A/C compressor condensor. If the Vision did have one, it would be integrated into the radiator at one of th corners.

Buy the extension hose Derale 13003, you'll need it on a 2016 Odyssey (Napa can't help you, this is an odd size hose, force 5/16" or 3/8" on at your transmission's peril $$$$! Decent cooler, simple.860493
Cooler came just in time. I installed it in my 2010 Subaru Forester so that I can safely pull my trailer without boiling my transmission. Glad to say I needed no special fittings to get the job done. The cooler looks well made and the size is just right...anything bigger would be a tough fit.36817
Great product. Super easy to install on my 2009 V6 4Runner. Keeps my transmission nice and cool. I did buy a little bit of extra hosing to mount it further on the other side of the car. But otherwise a complete kit for mounting it.254361
As far as I know, it's working well. I did the install so I could tow with my 2011 Honda Odyssey. I paired it with an etrailer power steering cooler. Install was fairly smooth. I had more issues with broken fairing fasteners than I did with this cooler. I used a bluetooth ODB reader to keep tabs on transmission temps while towing a small 4x6 enclosed trailer approx 400mi one-way. Empty weight was around 300lbs, we may have filled it to 1K lbs. Temps were in the mid-upper 80*f range, all highway driving along mostly flat roads. I did a lot of googling to try and find aceptable temps, good luck. Later on I used a small utility trailer to move an entire 3K Sq ft home. Distance was approx 1/4 mile (close by). Transmission temps remained good after many round trips. Fluid color remained acceptable.1105138

Since last review I rented a uhaul 4x6 enclosed trailer a few more times to help someone move. Still no tranny or steering issues. Transmission fluid still remains an acceptable level of pinkred. Additional upgrade has been a pair of Timbren rear suspension enhancement in prep for my next trailer adventure. The factory bump stops were damaged. The Timbrens are supposed to handle the constant contact as the rear end sags under load. Ill provide an update on those after the trip.

The installation was straightforward, and the temperature difference after the cooler was significant. This cooler will place additional years to the life of the transmission with 230,00 miles.1574631

2006 Toyota Tacoma
Excellent transmission cooler with fairly easy installation. I chose to mount mine to brackets in front of the radiator rather than by pushing mounting rods through the radiator condenser. Plans for my 4-cyl Tacoma were initially for pulling a utility trailer out to my land and back. Wife wanted to get an RV and take trips. All of my purchases and installations from etrailer were based on the expert advice from the sales people. And, I actually purchased and installed all the parts before we bought an RV. This shows you that the installation videos are spot on. I could never hook up a trailer and 'try it out'. But everything worked perfectly. I kept all the weights under limit, used a weight distribution hitch, brake controller, Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, and side mirrors, along with the class III hitch, and 4 pin and 7 pin wiring harness that I installed.
My Tacoma is only rated for towing 3500# but we never had a problem pulling a 3000# load. 65 was tops on the speed and that was on a straight road.
My scan gauge indicated that my transmission temp stayed at 165 except for when we traveled through stop and go city traffic. Then it rose to 185/190 for short times. Back on the road and it dropped to 165/170 a gain.
I was really impressed with this little cooler.524627

Still going strong after a year.
by: Philip05/08/2023
This was fairly easy to install. As far as I can tell it's working great. I am trusting that it will help extend the life of our transmission and keep things cool when we travel to the Rockies later this year.1573628

Toyota FJ Cruiser
I installed this trans cooler in a Toyota FJ cruiser that I use for occasional towing of trailers/loads up to about 4500 lb. The cooler, of course, is hidden away in the engine compartment so I don't really see it. It does the job I expected, keeping the trans fluid within range with no drama. I am quite satisfied with it and recommend it.904547

Still working, no issues at all. I use the FJ to tow an overlanding trailer and occasionally a flatbed with a tractor on it. No increase in transmission temp for either situation. So the cooler works. Its just there. No drama, no issues.

2008 Honda Odyssey
So far so good. Just installed the cooler a couple days ago getting ready for a move trailing a full load for 1000mi.
Install guide and descriptions are very generic and therefore require a bit forethought and pre-work.
Will see how the product will hold up in the long run.
Shipping and transactions with etrailer have been excellent once again.81679

2005 Honda Odyssey
I have is d Etrailer 8 or 9 times. Everything I've ever bought from Etrailer has been great. The installation videos alone are great, but the the thought that goes into the gagets they ship with the hitches to get the job done at home is amazing. There customer service is great also. I didn't need one of the parts I purchased so I returned it with no issues or hassle. Thank you!!! It's rare to find a company with values like yours.

I had this installed in my 2008 Nissan Titan to prevent transmission overheating. My Titan has the big tow package, max tow is 9,400 lbs and comes with a factory transmission cooler but it just wasn't enough to keep the gauge out of the hot zone when towing heavy. After installing this I pulled my 5000lb 27ft camper in 104 degree heat up hills and with a head wind, the gauge never left the normal temp range area. I would buy again. I do recommend this transmission cooler for additional protection against heat.1085296

2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
The cooler is a great add-on to help guarantee the life of my transmission in my 2007 Chevy Trailblazer.
The size was perfect for mounting just behind my grill and well in front of the stock radiator with barely any modification/trimming of the surrounding plastic. I have no real world temperatures but I am happy knowing the the temps in my transmission are at least a little bit cooler.
The only mist-step is the included mounting pieces. While handy to get things in place after forgetting to pick-up bolts, washers and nuts, the plastic ties really didn't hold up well for the 2 weeks until I removed them. They also don't play well with the bendable mounting kit unless you have something to eat up the space when the ties are tightened as far as they can go. Again, it's minor and had I remembered to purchase the hardware I eventually used prior to the actual install, I probably wouldn't even be writing this.
Also, the hose is certainly not long enough for my application.141336

The hitch assembly that I purchased from etrailer.com for my Honda Odyssey and the transmission cooler are working fine and I have pulled my 1972 Shasta camper several times without fail. I'm very pleased with the product quality and the easy to follow instructions included.673093

The install from what I remember a year ago went better then I originally expected as far as not having to tie it to the radiator. Simply haven't had any problems with it. just glad it's there and allows me to bypass the overheating from the radiator. I've also had to have my trans rebuilt sense installing the cooler but that was going to happen anyways, but knowing the cooler is there makes me not worry about any life being taken away from the trans rebuilt. Now I'm looking for a necessary engine cooler but couldn't remember where I got the trans cooler from.. Now I do!1286249

Had an automatic transmission that would overheat pulling a trailer up a steep grade on rough dirt roads. Put a deeper aluminum oil pan on it but still had the problem. This cooler has cured that problem. Wasn't too bad to install. It didn't come with enough hose for my application though so I deducted a star884326

2009 Honda Odyssey
Previously installed cooler from Etrailer in a 09 Odyssey. Hauled trailer all through WA, OR, ID, WY, UT, NM and CO (crazy high passes) with no problems.
New cooler is for '13 Jeep GC. The cooler came with clear instructions and all necessary fittings. I will mount it on aluminum brackets to bumper behind grill rather than plastic rivets to rad.
Thank you.352688

2006 Toyota Sienna
I installed this cooler on our 2006 Sienna to extend its life while towing our R-Pod 172 trailer. It appears to be doing its job, and after a year everything is still in it's place. Installation required a tiny bit of tinkering to route the hoses and zip ties, but it all went about as expected. The job was done in an afternoon (I am handy enough, but definitely not a car mechanic). I did wrap and tape some sheet metal around parts of the hoses to protect them from getting cut where they would otherwise be pushed against sharp edges. See photos.1204829

We use this to help us tow a 3,000lb camper with a 4 cylinder Tacoma. It works well. We didn't like the plastic mounting hardware to piggyback it onto your existing radiator so we used thick zip ties to mount it to the radiator frame.1328093

2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
Purchased a Tranny cooler from Etrailer a year ago and it has worked out great. Parts shipped out quick. Everything was of the highest quality. Very easy to install with the bracket kit. I will be sure to use Etrailer again. 377636
Great quality easy installation. Make sure you know which hose goes from and goes to your radiator for proper installation, your dealer DOESNT KNOW and wont be of any assistance lol this will ONLY work on Sienna XLE or Limited with tow prep package. Chevrolet Traverse
This was recommended by etrailer for my Traverse. It was fairly easy to install, (mostly with help from YouTube videos). I took my time and it took about 3 hours. If I did it again it could probably be done in an hour or less. It's been a year of towing an 18' ski boat and it has totally done the job. That adapter that is recommended with this is vital as far as I can tell.430529
When installing an aftermarket transmission cooler like the Derale Series 8000 # D13502, you will want to install it on the return line for your Ford Taurus. If you aren't sure which line is the return line, you can determine this by starting with the vehicle completely cooled off. Start the Taurus and put it in drive, apply the brakes firmly and then apply the accelerator so that the rpms climb, then put the vehicle back in park and turn it off.
When you then feel the two lines coming... view full answer...
I did some research and found in the owner's manual for your 2017 CR-V, you can tow up to 1,500-lbs. As long as your trailer and kayaks do not exceed this weight capacity you should be fine when towing, but a transmission cooler is never a bad idea.
I have attached a link to the transmission coolers we offer you can check out. I also attached a helpful article about coolers you can take a look at. You want to make sure you have enough space to install a cooler on your CR-V. The ideal... view full answer...
A transmission cooler is not necessarily mandatory for towing, but you will definitely want to check your owners manual to see if there are any stipulations from Subaru saying a cooler is required.
You will sometimes see that the vehicle manufacturer requires a transmission cooler be installed for towing purposes, just to retain the vehicle warranty.

We have three plate-fin Derale transmission coolers confirmed to fit your 2000 Ford F-350 with the 7.3 L diesel. The best one for you is going to be the largest that you can fit in the front of your engine compartment so it gets as much air flow as possible.
All three for your truck are 11 inches wide a 7/8 inches deep. The difference is the height::
# D13502 is 7-1/4 inches tall
# D13503 is 8-3/4 inches tall
# D13504 is 12 inches tall

In regards to installing a transmission cooler like the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13502, you will need to identify both the factory hot and cold (return) transmission cooler lines. In order to do this we recommend driving around the block a few times then getting under the vehicle and grabbing both lines going to and from the transmission, one should be noticeably cooler than the other and that's your return, the one you'll need to use. The lines/fittings... view full answer...
Since transmission coolers are universal fit items, the Transmission Cooler, part D13502, will fit your 2008 Honda Pilot. Transmission coolers are very easy to install. It is mainly a question of reconnecting hoses and tightening clamps, and making sure you have room to mount them.
We do have larger transmission coolers than the D13502, and you would simply need to measure to make sure they fit under the hood. Check out the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, part D12904.... view full answer...
Most vehicles will have a transmission cooler integrated into the radiator. There are lines from the transmission to the radiator to circulate transmission fluid through the radiator so the transmission runs cooler. Under normal circumstances, this works pretty well unless you're towing near the 1500 lb towing capacity of the CR-V or are towing in a hilly or mountainous area.
Supplemental transmission coolers like # D13502 are available that would install directly behind the grille in... view full answer...
Your Highlander can pull a trailer of that size, but it could be pretty hard on the vehicle.
If you were towing on flat ground it wouldn't' be a big deal, but because you'll be going through the mountains, you'll be pushing your Highlander fairly near its limits. If your travel trailer is loaded all the way up to the GVWR, it could weigh as much as 4400 lbs which is pretty close to the towing capacity of the vehicle.
If it were me, I'd look at a lighter camper option or if that camper... view full answer...
The transmission cooler should be installed in front of the air conditioner condenser for maximum efficiency.
The inlet line on the transmission cooler should be connected to the oil return line coming out of the radiator. The line coming out of the transmission cooler will be connected to the inlet line going into the vehicles transmission.
In my experience with other transmission cooler installations the amount of fluid lost is usually less than a pint. Also when installing the cooler... view full answer...
The Derale Transmission Cooler, # D13502, is rated for your 2005 Honda Odyssey EXL.
It is a universal fit application and has dimensions of 11 inches X 7-1/4 inches tall X 7/8 inches deep. So you would need to measure on your Honda Odyssey to make sure you will have clearance for this transmission cooler.
There are three possible mounting points for the cooler, and it plugs in line with the hoses already on the vehicle. If you have enough space, the most efficient mounting location... view full answer...
Check your vehicle owner manual. Some of them list a transmission cooler as a requirement, others as a suggestion. We always recommend one on smaller vehicles for towing or on large trucks that are pulling very heavy loads. If you are in the St. Louis, MO area, we do installations in house at our Wentzville headquarters.
For your vehicle, something like the Derale 8000 Series Class III cooler, part # D13502, should be enough to keep the transmission temperature at an appropriate level... view full answer...
The actual towing capacity of your 2015 Honda CR-V, which is 1,500 lbs according to the owner's manual, will not decrease with the angle of the boat ramp when using a hitch such as the Curt # C13119, though towing a trailer of any kind can result in higher transmission temperatures. If you plan on towing often, I recommend using a supplemental transmission cooler such as the Derale # D13502.
Also, please keep in mind the use of Curt hitch # C13119 is going to require the use of stabilizing... view full answer...
We can definitely help you out, and you are right about the factory tow package hitch on a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited being a Class II hitch, though it also has a 2 inch receiver, which is an odd combo not seen on aftermarket hitches. This hitch is compatible with a weight distribution system, and that is definitely... view full answer...
If the factory cooler has been bypassed for several years now I would not recommend you try to use it again at this point. It could have been leaking and that is why it was replaced. Also because now there could be corrosion or dirt on the inside of the cooler that you wouldn't want running through your transmission.
The lines of the current transmission cooler could be the reason for the leak. I know on my car I had to tighten one of the hose clamps at one point because it was leaking... view full answer...
The most popular cooler for your 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500 6.0 liter and what I recommend is the Derale cooler # D13504. This is a larger cooler at 11 x 12 inches so it will offer a large area to cool the fluid. To avoid having to cut and flare lines I also recommend fitting # D13035. view full answer...
Since transmission coolers are not vehicle-specific you'll want to compare the dimensions of the Derale Hyper-Cool # D13960 (13- wide x 10- tall x 5-5/8-inches deep) to the available mounting locations in your engine compartment. Flexibility in mounting point is one of the advantages of a fan-powered cooler. Since they don't rely on passive air flow for cooling they'll work effectively almost anywhere you can fit one.
Coolers like this Derale Hyper-Cool are intended to supplement the OEM... view full answer...
For your 2016 Honda Accord a transmission cooler would be a great choice that will prolong the life of the transmission as long as you don't have a CVT transmission. Heat is the number 1 killer of automatic transmissions and there would be no incentive to keep it warmer.

In order to avoid the engine coolant leaking into the transmission lines you would have to bypass the factory cooler, which is located in the radiator, on your 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. To bypass the factory cooler you would need to remove the transmission lines going to and from the radiator, plug those holes up, and run the lines... view full answer...
The transmission cooler I recommend for your 2014 Subaru Forester with either a 2.0L H4 Engine - Turbocharged or 2.5L H4 Engine is the Derale Series 8000 Transmission Cooler # D13503 because of how efficient the cooler is.
This is a plate-and-fin cooler, which means it uses smaller plates that cover more area than other coolers in order to agitate transmission fluid. Because you cannot overcool fluids, the rule of thumb with transmission coolers is that size matters so the large 11" wide... view full answer...
Installing an additional transmission cooler in-line with the current transmission cooler would help in cooling the transmission fluid. The item you selected, the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, part # D13502, would be a good choice as it will fit your 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500.
To install Part # D13502, you will also need the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting, part # D13035. I would recommend finding a spot in front of the radiator, behind the front grille... view full answer...
