The product itself looks to be well built and a good quality product. As for the packaging and the shipping end that's not so great. As a lot of the reviews state the box was damaged and the hitch had some marks on it where it looks like it was dragged. I know the shipping is not the point of this review but boxing up the hitch could be done with better care. The box was way to big for the hitch and allowed it to move around in the box and puncture it, this exposed parts of the hitch to the outside. Luckily the fasteners were taped to the hitch so they were still in the box.

The hitch is solid, I did the install by myself and it took me about 1.5 hrs without a lift or any fancy tools to install it.That also included removing the rear trim for the bumper to access the hitch better and reinstall. Directions were pretty straight forward as a DIY person with mechanical experience. We have used it numerous times and its a really good hitch and well priced and well built. The only thing I didnt realize when I installed it is how low it sits compared to the OEM for $700. We have draw bars that bring the trailer up to level so not an issue, and it doesnt drag on the ground when leaving a sloped driveway like our old mini van did.

@Jason Great to hear you are happy with the receiver. Thank you for giving us an update on your experience.

2018 GMC Terrain

The hitch works great but the shipping is lacking. The box was heavily damaged and it scraped off paint off of the hitch. Cant blame etrailer for shipper mishandling but the hitch could have been packed with extra protection on the corners. I can't imagine I'm the first to complain about hitch paint being chipped off due to shipping. Everything else was great; all hardware intact, how-to videos very helpful, easy to install.

2023 Chevrolet Equinox

The hitch assembly itself seems sturdy and will work as intended. The installation was horrible for a few reasons.
-The website says no drilling required and that is a lie. The access hole is not large enough to get the bolt hardware through, so I then had to go buy a $60 (1 1/8") step drill bit to make it larger.
- I was installing this on a 2023 Chevy Equinox and I ran into an issue with installing the bolts in the wrong holes on the driver side because there are 4 holes, where as the passenger side has three holes. I ended up picking the wrong one and had to rerun two bolts. It is very difficult to get the bolt hardware back through the access opening. Then you are forced to take the fish wire string off the bolt so you can run it to the correct hole, and it does not thread as nicely the second time.
-The directions do not say you need to slide the driver side hitch into a small channel on the car frame, so that the rest of the bolts holes will match up and the hitch will be level. I got one bolt started on the passenger side first, only to find out I would have to take it off and correct this. This lead to having to thread the fish wire once again back onto a bolt, and it is very difficult to do without the bolt trying to slide up and get lost in the frame.
-The third issue I ran into was due to the second and third time use of the fish wire and getting the bolt and fish wire to fit in the holes of the hitch frame. I ended up having to use the step drill bit to make the hole bigger to have enough room to get the bolt with fish wire to drop down through the opening. I could have risked it and taken the fish wire off the bolt, but if it got knocked up into the frame then it would be gone forever.

In conclusion, the hitch quality seems fine but the installation directions were terrible and led me down a bad path with not disclosing that driver side channel in the car frame that you must slide the hitch into first. I'll take ownership of putting the bolts in the wrong holes on the driver side. My hope is the instructions can get updated with all my feedback to help the next person. Lastly, I think the hitch is very low to the ground and I hope I do not ruin my $2000 bike rack when pulling into a parking lot that has a severe transition from the highway.

This hitch does call for the access hole to be enlarged to allow for the hardware to pass through. I recommend taking a look at the video install that we have on a 2023 Chevy Equinox.

2022 GMC Terrain. Hitch fit perfect. Put all bolts and washers in first before lowering exhaust. Took 30 minutes. Only thing not mentioned on installation video was if you have the hands free lift gate- have to get the exhaust hangers around it to lower and raise. Now it just shows a light not the GMC logo but the lift gate works fine.

Watched a video and installed the hitch and lights with no problems.

Great hitch, needed to have it installed by my car dealer, looks great on my car (2022 Chevy Equinox), the only con would be it sits a bit low, so be careful on steep inclines, will recommend to friends

Fantastic all around purchase/ experience! My hitch will be used primarily for bicycle and cargo applications. The comprehensive information on the website was invaluable. I chose to do a self install based on the awesome videos and everything was spot on, couldn't have gone smoother, and saved me a pile of cash! I actually spent additional time on the site doing general reading because of how thoroughly the information is presented.

2020 Chevrolet Equinox

MASSIVE, beefy construction with an excellent fit and finish. Good printed instructions provided and etrailer.com's excellent video make for clear simple installation. Excellent quality nut and bolt hardware in the package. This hitch (installed on a 2020 Equinox), replaced another etrailer.com hitch, installed on a 2003 Santa Fe. When I retired the Santa Fe this month, that hitch, 20 years old, looks and works perfectly. I fully expect many years of safe towing with this new, impressive Curt hitch.

Have not completed the installation yet but the ordering process was very easy to work thru, and delivery was very speedy.

2019 GMC Terrain

My 2019 Terrain did not come equipped with the factory trailer package, so I had anticipated having to splice into individual wires for tail lights, brake and turn signals. However, the etrailer wiring harness was literally plug and play. There was one section in the instructions that required removal of an interior panel on the left side of the rear luggage area, to check for the presence of a relay on a circuit board. Etrailer included that relay if needed, but in my case, the appropriate relay was there, so no additional relay was required. I use a small bungie cord to keep the flat four connector pulled up inside the bumper cover, when not using the hitch. The trailer hitch and wiring harness have worked well for the year since installation, so I'm a happy camper.

by:

Fits just as the video showed

by:

Very good trailer hitch, everything matched well with the vehicle. The fish wires on the bolts worked great. The installation time estimate provided was way off, it took much longer than 1 hour to install - and I did watch the video first.

hitch was delivered half out of box, fortunately no damage to the hitch. suggest double boxing such a heavy items

Chevrolet Equinox

This hitch is for a 2024 Equinox. Driver side car frame has one additional hole that is not talked about in your video. Check carefully which holes to use before trying to install hitch. Other than that, everything went smoothly. It is best to have two persons installing.

The tow package is a fine product. We are extremely disappointed in the service. We called on Wednesday 4/12 to confirm we were ordering the correct part AND to confirm shipping. We were told this is a 1 day ship and we would receive this on Friday 4/14 which would be perfect as we had an installer lined up. We planned to leave for a week long trip and wanted to take our bikes. When we noticed the tracking changed to being delivered on Monday 4/17 I contacted Hannah again. She seemed nonchalant that sometimes it ships from a different warehouse or takes longer to process. We certainly understand this but feel like we were told what we wanted to hear to get us to confirm the order. Very disappointed!!

I am sorry that the time changed and you werent able to get it when you were expecting it! This can get a bit tricky sometimes. I see you guys are local, which means it should have arrived on the time you were told. However, we do now have multiple warehouses, which means that there is no guarantee on the shipping arrival unless you were to get expedited shipping to guarantee the time of arrival.

by:

Installation was as described it took me 90 minutes to install hitch and wiring harness.

by:
2023 Chevrolet Equinox

Hitch arrived quickly and in great condition (can't say same for the box however). Video was very helpful and recommendation to have two people to lift the hitch up to the body is a good one. If you can find a spot where you can back the car up where the ground starts to slope down you can gain a bit more room to work otherwise you will need ramps or jacks

by:

Everything installed pretty straightforward except I had a difficult time getting the bolt thru one of the non slotted holes. It took awhile and a crowbar to line up the holes and get the bolt though the opening. Otherwise all good.

  • Best Hitch to Use a Bike Rack on a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox
The hitch that I recommend for your 2022 Chevrolet Equinox to use a hitch mounted bike rack is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C77FR. This hitch is made in the USA, has a bolt-on, no-drill installation and will provide you with a 2" receiver opening which is the most common size used for hitch mounted accessories such as bike racks, cargo carriers and ball mounts. If you are still looking for a bike rack, I really like the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack # Y36FR. This rack features an included...

Nope! The 2 relays that come with and install on the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C94FR are all that you should need for adding a 4-Way connector on your 2022 GMC Terrain with the factory tow package. I also recommend checking out the Eclipse Magnetic Mounting Bracket # 306-X6019 so that you will have easy access to the 4-Way wiring right next to your hitch receiver. If you don't already have a trailer hitch then I recommend the Curt # C77FR because it has a hidden crosstube...
