Type B Towed Car

Blue Ox Block Diode Diagram - Type B

The diagram above shows the installation of Blue Ox's tail light wiring kit on towed cars that have separate amber turn signals and red brake lights, as well as a brake light wire that splits before reaching the tail light sockets.

In automobiles with separate turn signals, the amber signals will not function when hooked up to your RV. Instead, the tail lights will act as turn signals upon receiving communication from your RV.

The diagram above shows the installation of Blue Ox's tail light wiring kit on towed cars that have separate amber turn signals and red brake lights, as well as a brake light wire that does not split before reaching the tail light sockets. This installation requires you to split the brake light wire.

In automobiles with separate turn signals, the amber signals will not function when hooked up to your RV. Instead, the tail lights will act as turn signals upon receiving communication from your RV.

Video Transcript for Review of Blue Ox Tow Bar Wiring - Splices into Vehicle Wiring - BX8811

Today we're going to take a look at the Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit, with the block diode. Now when you're flat towing a vehicle, if you use this kit installed on your towed vehicle, it'll allow a motor home or RV to power the lights on your towed vehicle without having power feedback.Basically this diode block here permits electrical current to flow in only one direction. And that's from the motor home to the towed vehicle, and that'll prevent electrical feedback. This part . this kit includes everything laid out here on the table. Starts with a 26 foot long, four-wire harness.

The nine-terminal diode block. The connectors you need, all the installation hardware, nice set of detailed instructions. And again, the diode block is the part that prevents the electrical feedback, and damage that can cause to your towed car's electrical components. This kit is made in the USA. One note I do want to mention, that in automobiles that have separate turn signals, which are called a three-wire system. The amber signals will not function when hooked up to your RV.

Instead, the tail lights will act as a turn signal upon receiving communication from your RV.But that should do it, for the review on the Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit, with the block diode.

This product easy to install with basic electrical knowledge. Works well, but gets hot to the touch. I will review more later as to how long this system last.

by:

This kit is great. It allows you to use all of the running lights on the tow vehicle, not just the brake and turn. Makes for a very professional looking installation.

Great, no problems!

  • Removing Diodes From Lighting Used For Flat-Towing 2003 Acura TL
In order to remove the diodes from your Acura, you can do a couple things. If you want to remove the wiring harness altogether, simply trace the wires from the connector at the front of your Acura and find each diode used for your vehicle. The diode should be installed very near the tail lights. Use a circuit tester like part # 3808 and find the wire that shows current only when the left turn signal is used. Remove the diode and then use a connector to reattach the wires that the diode...

  • Does the Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit with Block Diode # BX8811 Come With a 4-Way Connector
The Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit with Block Diode # BX8811 that you referenced does not come with a 4-Way connector as you stated. To add a 4-Way connector you can simply use the Hopkins Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM38138 and connect it to your current wiring using Butt Connectors # DW05744-5. For a look that is a little more clean and will provide you with a 7-Way to connect to your RV you can use the Hopkins Nite-Glow Tow Bar Extension Cord w/ Socket - Coiled...

  • Proper Wiring Technique For Flat Towing A Jeep
For the wiring diagrams either is correct as long as it matches up, that being said the one from the FAQs page would be the more typical setup. It's always recommended to check the functions of the wires beforehand using a circuit tester # PTW2992 to ensure you're properly wiring your components. Since you're going to be flat towing your Jeep you'll actually want to use a 6-pole instead of a 4 pole since there isn't an adapter to go from a 4-pole round to 7-pole socket. You can use the...

  • Recommended Tow Bar Lighting For 1984 Jeep CJ-7
If you are not planning on towing your Jeep really often I recommend using magnetic lighting like the RoadMaster Standard Magnetic Tow Lights part # RM-2120. Using the magnetic lights may be a better option because you would not have to work with the older wiring on your CJ-7. I called my contact at Blue Ox and they told me that you can use the Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit, part # BX8811, although we do not have any information about this kit and installation on a your Jeep. • Installing Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit with Block Diode on Towed Vehicle
You are on the right track! When installing the Blue Ox Trail LIght Wiring Kit # BX8811, you will essentially have wires coming into the block diode from the RV and in from the vehicle. Then the wires coming out will go to the vehicle's rear tail lights. I have attached the complete installation instructions for the Blue Ox Trail Light Wiring Kit for you to take a look at. This will give you much more detailed installation steps than the diagram you are referring to. As you mentioned,...
