Video Transcript for Blue Ox Safety Cables Review

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Blue Ox safety cables for flat towed vehicles. Now these are pretty heavy duty cables rated at 7,500 pounds. So on a vehicle like a Jeep Wrangler that should be more than sufficient to be safe. The cable has some really nice features as a plastic coating is on it so that's gonna keep it from scratching your tow bar. You also have metal keepers here that act as a spring loaded stop here. That way it's not gonna accidentally disconnect and when you do need to disconnect, you can simply just push that down and also makes hooking up super easy as well.

The coil design also keeps it up off the ground even with its 84 inches of length. This should be no problem, and that way it's not dragging. It also kind of makes it nice for when you are unhooked. It kind of coils it all together, keeping it nice and tight. Now, many tow bars don't come with cables included so this is a component that you can pick up separately that's gonna work well.

Now, if you do have cable management on your tow bar which allows your wires and all your cables to be a little bit cleaner attached to the tow bar, you're gonna want to pick up a straight cable version and that way you can kind of easily attach that to it and we have those available here at etrailer. Other than that these are gonna be a great addition when picking up an entry level tow bar that may not have the cables or if you're just replacing some old cables that have started to fray and poke you when you use them. This is gonna be an awesome option. And that was a look at Blue Ox Safety cables for flat towed vehicles.

Replacements for original set, one cable damaged during entering a gas station and a recent detachment on highway. These same cables did their job and saved my toad after a locking pin sheared off and my blue ox bar detached from the coach.

by:

Brittany was very knowledgeable and helpful. She steered me clear of a few mistakes and I very much appreciate the help.

by:

excellent product and quick delivery, great service

by:

They were exactly what I wanted, they work well.

by:

Great security safety cables to flat tow our Bronco

by:

The safety cables work very well. They have maintained the original coil which keeps them from getting too close to the ground. The snaps are great and easy to hook and unhook. Thank you E-Trailer for handling great products.

by:

Delivery was on time as promised. Great value.

by:

These replaced chains (never again!!) Very happy with the purchase and cables.

by:

One of our cables was scraped through the exterior cover and caught on the ground on an incline. I thought it best to replace the cable so found these. Now I will have a spare too.

by:

bought these before they work great

by:

Had owned one of these for 9-10 years and had no major problems, but the rubberpads the bikes ride on did come loose after about 7 years so I had to glue and eventually tape them back on to get longer use out if it. The new one I have is performing as well as the older one but the pads are already coming loose after one year

by:

Critical product for safe towing in keeping towed vehicle behind towing vehicle in case the tow bar or hitch fails.

by:

The delivery was delayed. Product great

by:

Product was great both times. After I learned to keep the cable from between the hitch and the ground the second set looked like new yesterday when I looked at them!

Great quality

by:

Love the cables! Way better than chains.

by:

As advertised. Looks great.

by:

Much easier to store and handle than my previous 10k pound cables. End clip is firm and secure.

by:

The safety cables are great.

The cables are great.

by:

The cables sent were rated at 7500 lbs which was fine with me but one of the rubber clips that keep the "S" hooks from jumping off the hitch was torn and could not be used. I leave the cables on my RV hitch at all times so I used plastic cable ties cinched around the "S" hooks in place of he rubber clips at the RV. I should have spent the extra bucks and bought the 10,000 lb. with the attached spring loaded metal clips.

by:

Cables are heavy duty and well made. Springs on hook are strong and will not come apart. Coils will not drag like my old cables.

Tom

Great still like new and easy to use

by:

Great product. I've towed the car behind my RV several times and have peace of mind that if something breaks, I've got great cables to prevent further damage to my car and other vehicles on the road. Thankfully I've haven't had to put them to the test, and I hope I never do.

by:

Exactly what I ordered

by:

Cable seem good the outer coating seems to crack easily only used 2 times and already seem some cable showing.

  • Replacement Washers and Boots for Blue Ox Aventa II Tow Bar BX7335
Thank you for the picture! Most tow bars are going to have some stickers on the shank of the tow bar that will give you a part number; sometimes they come off over time, and occasionally you have to rely on visually matching them up to determine which one you have. From the sticker on the shank, it looks like you have a Blue Ox Aventa II tow bar, which has been replaced by the Blue Ox Alpha # BX7365 . But the good news is that we still have replacement parts available. The Replacement...

  • Can a 2000 Ford Ranger Manual Transmission and Rear Wheel Drive be Towed with a TowReady Tow Bar
Yes, the Tow Ready Adjustable Tow Bar, # 63180, can be used to tow the 2000 Ford Ranger with manual transmission. You will need to refer to your owners manual for procedures and restrictions for towing your Ranger, and make sure that the Ranger is below the 5,000 pound capacity of the tow bar. You will also have to keep in mind that this tow bar is rated for towing speeds of 45 miles per hour or less. A better tow bar option would be the Blue Ox Adventurer Tow Bar, # BX7322, which is...

When flat towing any vehicle you will need at least 5 items: base plates on the vehicle, tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. Tow bar # 63180 is not an option I would recommend. It does not come with the attachments needed on the car (base plates) and it has a speed restriction of 45 miles per hour. For a more functional set up you can start with Blue Ox base plates # BX3827. Then for an inexpensive compatible tow bar you can use # BX7322 and for safety cables,...

First and most important, the 2001 Buick Century will need a transmission lube pump to safely be towed behind the Venture. Next, you will need a base plate kit for the front of the Century. The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX1509, would be a great choice. To attach the base plate kit to your Venture you will need a Tow Bar. If your Venture has a 2 inch hitch, the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar,...

Absolutely! As long as your 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 has the two-speed transfer case it can be flat towed behind your motorhome. With the truck connected to your motorhome you will start the truck, put the transfer case in neutral, verify it is in neutral by putting the truck in drive and reverse and seeing if it moves, then shift the truck back to drive. Next disconnect the battery and shift the truck into park. Now for the components needed to flat tow your truck you need a base plate...

If you are buying it new then it will come with safety cables. If not then I recommend the Safety Cables # BX88196 because they have a high enough weight rating and also have the coiled design so they won't be dragging on the ground.
