Recommended Items Needed When Flat-Towing 2003 Dodge Neon
Question:
Hello, I need to know if I can safely tow a 2003 Dodge Neon with an automatic transmission behind my motor home. I believe it is called Dinghy Towing? If it can be towed this way....what supplies would I need to do this. Thank you for your time and information. :

Since you have an automatic transmission in your Neon I found that it can be flat-towed but would require a transmission lube pump.
When you flat-tow your Neon you will need 5 items. You will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting for the Neon, and most states now require a supplemental brake system.
The base plates I recommend are The Blue Ox Base Plates, part # BX1961.
For a tow bar I recommend the Blue Ox Adventurer, part # BX7322. The safety cables I recommend are part # BX88196.
The lights I recommend is the Magnetic Tow Lights - 20' Long Harness # PE26UR. These bypass the Neon wiring and connect directly to the trailer connector at the back of your motor home. These lights securely attach with strong magnets.
Finally, the supplemental brake system I recommend is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO, part # SM99251. This system features an inertia sensor that activates the brakes on your Neon with a proportionate amount of pressure.
