Video Transcript for Inno Aero Bar Roof Rack Installation - 2020 Ford Fusion

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we'll be taking a look at our Inno Roof Rack System with the Inno Towers for flush roofs, as well as your longer Inno Crossbar, 54 and 57 inches long, right here on our 2020 Ford Fusion. So you have your Ford Fusion and maybe you wanna add some other accessories too. What you would need is, if you wanna carry, lets say a roof rider bike rack or even kayaks or roof baskets, is an aftermarket refract system. So that's what we have here. These are the Inno Crossbars.

They're the longer Aero Crossbars. They come in some different shapes and different sizes. And these are great for, if you want a little bit more overhang on your vehicle. So like I mentioned, we have different lengths when it comes to the crossbars, this is actually the wire link system. And you can also get it with shorter crossbars, or you could get it where it sits flush against your vehicle.

So there are different types of styles for different types of people. This is ideal if you wanna carry more stuff. Now, let's say you have a car seat in the back, this might not be the best because you could likely hit your head against it as you reach into it. So that's just another thing, you might wanna check out the flush towers then, but for here, we're gonna talk about all that overhang. So I have mine set up with the longer bars in the back.

So we're getting ready to check your overhang and that's gonna be from the end of the tower to right before the end cap and mine sits at about three and a quarter inches for the rear. And then for the front, we have pretty much an inch and a quarter of overhang. So here we have the Aero Crossbar. So take a look at their shape and design compared to your traditional crossbars that we're round and square. These are more modern and they're designed to help reduce the wind drag and wind noise.

That way, as you're driving down the highway, they're not as noisy as if you had your really round bars on there. Now this also has a T-Track System on the inside. So once you take off the end caps, you can then access it. And I really like how Inno does it, because all you need to do is just push in that strip and mount your accessory. Compared to other ones like Rhino-Rack, we have to cut the wind strips to fit around your T-Track's accessories. This is so much easier to use and it lasts a little bit longer. So here we have our towers and notice how they give us a pretty good distance or a height on top of our roof. You also have integrated locks. So as you have that locked, it's secure, and then when you unlock it, you're then able to remove that tower and access the fit hooks underneath. This uses a custom fit kit, so you have different pads for the back and different pads for the front. You also have your hooks and notice how the hooks are contoured against the contours of your vehicle. So once you have everything tightened down and everything secured, as long as you've installed them properly, you can be comfortable with even slamming the door on them, just like this, since it fits around your vehicle. So this is a strong and sturdy roof rack system as well, with 165 pounds weight capacity. Now, whenever we talk about weight capacities though, please be mindful that you still shouldn't overburden the actual roof weight capacity of your vehicle. So count the weight of your system, count the weight of your accessory, whether it be a bike rack or roof basket, and then count the weight of your cargo, add that all up and make sure it doesn't exceed your Ford Fusion's roof weight capacity. So the install process is gonna be kind of involved just because you have a naked roof on your Ford Fusion, but that's really what this video is for. I'm gonna guide you through that process, so that you can get your specific fit kits, your towers, and your crossbars all assembled properly onto your Ford Fusion. Let's start by talking about the fit kits. So we have different numbers on our fit kits. So we have the pads over there. And then on your hooks, we have a number on the underside of the hook. So you're gonna follow those different numbers and line them up with your front and your back bars. So the front crossbar is gonna have the pad 4, 3, 2 on both the passenger and the driver's side, so you just gonna line that up. Notice the way we have it angled, where the angle is facing the outside, and that's just gonna pop in. So now we have our metal plate, that's gonna fit into our towers and then into our crossbars. So first we have our crossbar here and you're gonna slide that tree all the way out and then bring your plate up from underneath and then just push that through. Then you get your towers and just notice how you have those tabs on the inside, that's gonna line up with the tabs in your crossbars. So just place that on top. And then you wanna lift up on this handle right over here, where that bolt sticks out. And that will allow you to just slide that through. So how far apart do you set your towers Well, you have different distances depending on if you have the front or the rear crossbar. For our front crossbar, it's gonna be 21 and a half inches from the center. We're gonna measure it with this measuring tape. So you're gonna measure from the center to the, kind of notch in your tower. So that's gonna line up right over there. And what I do from here is I just go verify on my roof real quick. And after that, once I verify that they're in the right position, I tighten it down with this tool over here. And with both towers fully secure, we then going to place this crossbar onto our roof. One thing to notice is make sure that you have it where the higher or the taller portion is facing the front of your vehicle and the tapered portion is facing away. So, since they just have the rubber pads on the end, you can just place them directly onto your roof. Just do it very gently, before you line it up. So for our front crossbars, we're gonna measure a distance of three and a quarter inches. That's gonna measure from your seam in your door, all the way to the center of your tower. So that's gonna be nine and three quarter inches there. Do the same on the other side. And now we're ready to put the hooks on. So the first thing you need to do actually is to take out this bolt. This hook sits on top and then put that bolt back into place and just start threading it down. So what I do is I actually try to tighten them down evenly. So I get one side halfway tightened down, and then I do the other side. So now we're gonna finish this off. You're gonna use the included hex tool to tighten down your hook, right there. And with that fully tightened down on both sides, take the hex tool out and put your end caps on. So you're gonna have an end cap for the tower. So I just put the keys in and that kinda just slides in from the top then secures. And then there's an end cap for your crossbar too. So with all four tower end caps in place, and all your crossbar end caps are secured too, and you just double checked all your bolts as well. And that's it for the install. And that was a look here at our Inno Roof Rack System with the towers for your naked roof, as well as the Inno Crossbars that are 54 and 57 inches long, right here on our 2020 Ford Fusion. My name is Evangeline and I hope you enjoyed the journey..

etrailer was great to order from! Going to the website makes it easy to see what roof rack will fit your vehicle. Ordering process was a breeze and the fulfillment updates were great. Ordered on the 13th and received it on the 16th so the FREE shipping was super fast. New installs of anything can always be challenging but once I read the the instructions it all went pretty smooth. Installing this Inno Roof Rack onto our 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport was pretty simple and took less than an hours from start to finish. Now we are ready to load up out Thule cargo carrier when we hit the road.

I am writing this review in the context of an owner of an old Yakima roof rack system from many vehicles before the 2021 Hyundai Tucson on which I just mounted four INNO separate sets of components to carry two bikes on top of the Tucson. Note that you need at least three sets of components to have a "base rack" system, including the hooks, in this case the INNO INK680, the INNO INSUT Feet and the INNO INB137 set of crossbars. The feet are rubber coated metal so that they will not mar the paint where they clamp to the edge of the roof just above the doors. The rubber pads are also substantial to provide a slip-proof and paint protecting bottom for the INSUT feet. Read through all the directions for all the components before beginning installation, perhaps even "rehearsing" all the steps before actual installation with tightening everything. The instructions could be clearer, but with practice walking through all the steps they make sense. Once installed, I could grab any part of the completed system and pull upwards, sideways, forwards, and backwards without any play or slack in any of the components. In fact, it was easy to rock the whole car side to side without budging the INNO components at all. Compared to the old Yakima system, the INNO is just as sturdy and substantial if not more so. Just to replace the Yakima "feet" to use my old round Yakima crossbars would have cost more than the total of the three INNO components needed to get the base system. Even better, the INNO system came with included locks to lock the system to the vehicle. Many years ago, the Yakima four lock cylinders were $[XX] extra - probably much more now. So, I think the INNO is at least as sturdy and capable for much less money.

Feels premium and was pretty straight forward to install. I think it looks really good on the 2019 Honda Accord Sport. I plan to pair it with the Inno Wedge 660 cargo box. So far, it seems really well made and has a rubberized texture throughout. I installed it by myself in about 30 minutes without the instructions. It also shipped in only 2 days.

by:

These Inno racks are very high quality, and the installation is straightforward. They look good, too.

I've been a happy etrailer customer for years. Sales staff helped me pick out the right roof rack setup for my new 2023 Escape that worked with my low-profile rails. 3 separate boxes of pieces but they all came together perfectly. Very happy with my purchase and etrailer customer support! Rack is solid, low wind noise and will work with the accessories I need, kayak carrier and cargo basket.

by:

THEY DID IT AGAIN! I was looking for roof racks for our 2012 Honda Crosstour. OEM was not available. I called Etrailer and spoke to Anna and she listened to make sure we got just what we needed.Today I'm going to install and hope they fit our needs. I'm really impressed with Etrailer and there customer service! They have taken care of me many times with several different vehicles! Thank you

We bought this along with the INTR - Inno Feet for Square Crossbars. We used this to mount Thule crossbars and a Thule Adventurer cargo box on a 2001 Subaru Forester. Everything fit perfectly. The Inno mounts were completely compatible with the Thule crossbars. The fast and accurate shipping helped avert a crisis before a cross country trip.

Works great wouldnt have bought anything else and protects paint from getn scratched since i dont roof rails

My wife and I bought a 2019 Tyson with a bare roof and wanted a rack system that would be safe affordable and easy to install and not having to Buy and installed side rails. The Inno system was perfect. . It is solid material with a solid build. The directions were a bit confusing but after some time and with the etrailer how to videos it really made the difference. Ordering was simple and fast. Madison was great to work with she was knowledgeable and helpful. The delivery was fast and exactly on time. I was going to go with another company and another rack system…. I’m glad I didn’t. I saved money and got a great product from a great company. Thanks etrailer, Inno and thanks Madison! And mostly for making my wife happy bc know we can get to kayaking!!!

by:

etrailer gave me fast shipping and a great price. Inno quality is great. I’ve had this on for several months and use it to transport bikes. I use the cheap bike racks on [online] but they work.

by:

I purchased the Inno Rack system and Rhino Rack 581 saddles for my 2007 Mercury Montego. The instructions were easy to follow, and the rack is rock solid. It makes loading and unloading my kayak a breeze. I previously used roof pads and that was ridiculous compared to what this rack does for me now. I am amazed with how quiet with and without the kayak attached is - I don’t hear anything except the very slightest amount of wind with the windows open on the highway. I always have put a one turn twist in the bow and stern straps, but for the rest they’re all straight. I added an extra strap on the rear crossbar that goes behind the rear combing of my cockpit for extra security- but that’s just me. I’ve included a photo to show my setup. Thank you so much Mark S, Becky B, Carol C, and George J. etrailer rocks.

by:

I have a 2022 Lexus GX460 Premium. Fairly simple installation and a almost seem less transition from the fit kit to the cross bar system. Can be done by one person, but I would suggest a two-person system to expedite the process.

Love it! Never installed
one of these before. 30mins to put together. Another 30-45mins to install on the car. Once you get the concept for once of the bars, the second one goes by quick. It’s just understanding how it works/how it’s suppose to be installed at first.
