Having a propane or carbon monoxide gas leak in your RV is a scary situation that you don't want to even think about let alone experience. But this detector will give you peace of mind knowing that if there are dangerous levels of either, it'll quickly and accurately warn you and your family so you can get out of the RV and into fresh air.
When carbon monoxide is detected, the red LED will flash, and the horn will blare 4 times. When propane gas only or both propane and CO are detected, the red LED will come on, and the horn will be constant. And because the sensors are highly selective, they're designed to only sound the alarm for lethal gases, reducing the number of false alarms that occur in non-threatening scenarios.
It'll also alert you when the battery is low or when the detector has reached the end of its life and needs to be replaced, so you never have to be without protection.
To double check that the detector is operating normally, you can easily use the button on the front to test the propane sensor, carbon monoxide sensor, and battery voltage. You should test your detector every time it's taken out of storage and before it's taken out for each camping trip. This button also lets you silence the horn up to 5 minutes during non-life-threatening situations. So, you can turn off that annoying racket in the middle of the night while you're trying to hunt for a new battery.
The 2 included universal mounting brackets allow this detector to replace 90 percent of all OEM surface-mount and flush-mount detectors. This detector can replace most Atwood and Dometic branded detectors, as well as Safe-T-Alert 20 series, 25 series, 30 series, 35 series, 40 series, 45 series, and 65 series detectors.
Because propane gas is heavier than air, it'll settle near the floor, so this detector should be installed 4" to 18" from the floor to accurately detect the presence of gas. Also make sure that the detector is located in an area that isn't near a window or door, behind furniture or drapes, or in a closet. It also shouldn't be installed with 24" near a stove, oven, fridge, or furnace.

The trim back plate covered holes that were there nicely. Easy to install, two wires connected to existing 12V wiring with wire nuts, 4 screws and done. It tested out perfectly. So far there have been no false alarms (big plus). Packaging and delivery was perfect.
This replacement for the old Atwood in my Living Quarters horse trailer was easy to install and the instructions were very helpful. I like the slim design compared to the old block style Atwood. It was also nice that the detector came with two different sizes of mounting plates.
Installed and operational. Easy fit and the adapter plate worked to cover the larger hole from the older model that was removed.
Very compact unit with great filler plates to cover existing holes . Extremely pleased with the product and versatility.
Price is very good considering it is a dual monitor.

Replaced existing detector in 2017.5 Lance 2285. Not the same as the original, but looks great. Had to drill pilot holes for screws as the cover plate on this one did not line up with existing holes. No issues. Easy install.
We installed the new propane gas & carbon monoxide detector last summer. It works great!
Easy to install (our old one quite working) & makes camping in our slide in truck lift top camper safe and secure.

Perfect replacement for the Safe-T-Alert which came with my 2019 motorhome. I ordered this item specifically since a Safe-T-Alert detector the same size was not readily available.
Fit and covered the opening from the older/larger one. ETrailer has a competitive price… I just think they are an overpriced product in general

Still working great after a year.
Much better than my ugly yellow stock o ne.
Received the RS54Fr detector to replace my Safe T Alert 70-742 which is very hard to find and expensive. The new one comes with plates to help cover the holes from older units. It arrived fast and fit perfectly using the larger cover plate

Easy to install and worked fine. But, have traded trailers since then,
When our detector started beeping I was worried that a replacement would be hard to find and even more difficult to replace. E-Trailer provided me with a perfect replacement unit that I installed in about 15 minutes with no difficulty.
