Video Transcript for Superwinch Electric Winch - ATV - UTV Winch - 1120210 Review

Today we're going to review part number 1120210. This is the super winch LT2000 ATV winch. Has a 2,000 pound weight capacity. This is a compact, quiet, all-purpose, entry level winch. It's very powerful, versatile, and easy to use. This can be permanently mounted, or it can be used as a portable winch, with the optional quick-connect wiring and mounting kits, that we sell separately on the our website.

This part will include everything shown here; includes the winch, solenoid and circuit breakers, and all the battery wiring. Includes this rocker switch, includes the roller fair-lead, that the cable will run through. Includes the hook on the cable, and includes this pulley with the hook, and a D-shackle connect-it, and all the mounting hardware that's needed. The roller fair-lead will require a mount kit, that we sell separately on our website. It's listed on this product page as a related product.

It's part number SW87-42616. Now this winch will power the load in and out. Right over here is a knob that if you pull this knob out and turn it to hold it out, it will allow this clutch to free-spool. Gives you a faster wind wire rope payout. When you're done, you just click it back in and you're ready to power it. The motor is a high efficiency, low amp-draw motor.

It does use a full-metal planetary gear. It includes, I mentioned, the sealed handlebar-mounted rocker switch, to control it. It does use a dynamic break, and it circuit breaker protected. A few specs on this, on the winch, is a rated line pull of a single line of 2,000 pounds. The motor is a 1 horsepower motor. The gearing is a differential planetary gearing.

The gear ratio on it is 153:1. Again, I mention the free-spooling clutch, which is a pull and turn, to put it in the free spool. Dynamic breaking. The wire rope that's included with this is a 5/32 diameter, by 49 feet long. It does come with the latched hook, and the handle strap to hold on to. The switching method is a protected relay. To give you the idea of the size of this, it's a pretty small winch. Overall length from edge to very edge, is going to be right at 11 inches. The height, is right at 4 inches. The depth of it is also right at about 4 inches. Now just one warning on this. I do want to let you know that this is a wire cable that's included. Synthetic rope cannot be used on this ATV winch. Or actually any ATV winch that uses an aluminum drum. This does use an aluminum drum. Synthetic rope can only be used on winches that have a steel drum. This comes with the wire cable, and is made just to use wire cable. That should do it for the review on part number 1120210. This is the super winch LT2000 ATV winch, at a 2,000 pound capacity. .

Usually it is a solenoid within the winch that has gone bad. Let me double check with the manufacturer, but we may need to get you a replacement solenoid.

I installed the Superwinch LT 2000 on a 2007 Honda Rancher and also the mounting kit # 2202889. The install went well. I had never put a winch on an ATV before. The video on etrailer was very helpful and would have been difficult to install without it. The instructions that come with the winch and the mount kit are minimal. I found the electrical wire length to be enough as I mounted the solenoid right behind the battery under the seat. The pink wire on the ignition was what I used to tap into to run the switch.

I bought this 2000 lb Superwinch for the replacement of a 1000 lb winch on our houseboat. The winch is used to secure a jetski on the back of the boat! The winch works perfectly and the price and free shipping are what brought me back to etrailer! I'm a very satisfied customer.

    by:

Easy installation, mounted perfect to my Polaris 400 Sportsman ATV using the mounting kit that came with the winch.

Not impressed, was missing two bolts, two lock washers and two nuts. Had to go to the hardware store to get more. Instillation directions are a joke. I do not recommend.

    • Can Ignition Wire of Superwinch LT2000 Run to Main Power Wire
The ignition wire of the # 1120210 is an activation circuit that normally is used when installing on an ATV to tell the winch the ATV is on and the winch is powered up. In a boat trailer install situation like you mentioned you could run this circuit to the same place as the main power wire and it will work just fine.

    • Would a Superwinch LT2000 Electric Utility Winch # 1120210 Work To Winch my 21 ft Party Barge
In order to determine if this winch would be a good choice for your trailer you want to know the weight of your 21 ft party barge. This Superwinch LT2000 Electric Utility Winch # 1120210 has winching capacities of 2,000 lbs. However, boat-size-to-winch capacity is generally 2 to 1, so if your boat weighs less than 4,000 lbs this winch would be a good choice for you. I also attached an FAQ on hand winches that you might find interesting also.

    • Recommended Battery to Power an Electric Winch
You will need a 12 volt battery that is rated for more than 55 amps to power your electric winch. Any battery that meets those requirements should work well for you. For most winches that usually means a car battery. I have included a link to the right with tips on wiring an electric winch. If you need a good battery charger that will not over charge the battery and will also help recondition and extend the life of the battery I recommend CTEK charger # CTEK56353. I have attached a diagram showing the wiring for this utility winch. To protect the winch battery in the bed of your truck, I recommend using a battery box. • Comparing the Master Lock Trailer Winch # 2953AT with Superwinch # 1220210
The rack and pinion for the Master Lock Electric Trailer Winch, # 2953AT, is in reference to the way that the winch brakes. It is a mechanical system that can support a load when stopped and the clutch is not engaged (which would allow the line to be pulled out). A dynamic brake uses the motor to apply tension to the drum and it cannot hold a load. If it were me, I would go with Superwinch # 1120210, for the fact that it has the ability to power the load in and out. The Master Lock winch...

    • Where Does The Red Rocker Switch Wire Attach To When Installing SuperWinch LT2000?
When installing the Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch # 1120210 on atv's or offroad vehicles, the red wire on the rocker switch typically connects to a wire that gets power only when the ignition switch is turned on. When using this winch on a trailer or other application that does not have an ignition switch, you can just run it to the positive terminal on the battery that it is connected to and install a toggle switch in between so that you can switch the winch on and off, then actually control...

    • Using Electric Winch to Load Ice Fishing Shack onto Trailer
Either the Superwinch Terra # SW1135230 winch with its 3500 lb capacity or the Superwinch # 1120210 LT2000 winch (I am not clear about which one you have) should be able to handle your ice shack with no problem if you use a pulley block like # BDW20004. Using a pulley block can nearly double the winch capacity, which will be necessary because you will be pulling a dead weight up an incline. You would mount the winch offset to one side of the front of the trailer, and secure a heavy duty...

    • What Type of Battery Should be Used with Superwinch LT2000 12V Utility Winch 2,000lb
To operate a DC powered winch such as # 1120210 that is not installed on a vehicle you will need a 12 volt battery with a high enough amp hour rating for the draw of the winch under load. Superwinch LT2000 Electric Utility Winch # 1120210 draws 100 amps when used at it's capacity of 2,000 lbs. With zero line pull it draws 10 amps. Batteries are expensive so a regular truck battery with a high amp hour rating would work well. I also recommend using a CTEK battery charger # CTEK56353 to...

They told me that if there is power or not provided to the winch and you have a load, the winch will slowly unwind lowering the load. The freewheeling clutch is only used when there is no load on the winch and you wish to unwind the cable. You may want to check out part # SW1130220. • Will Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch Run Off of a 12 Volt 7.2 Amp Hour Battery
Provided that the battery can handle the 100 amp power draw at 12 volts then you can use it to power the Superwinch LT2000 # 1120210. The wiring and fuses used for a 12 volt outlet such as a cigarette lighter are not rated high enough for the power requirements of this winch. I have linked a help article on wiring an electric winch for you.

The Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch # 1120210 does come with a switch that allows you to power the line in or out. It looks more like a rocker switch and will be permanently installed (see attached photo). If you were thinking of something more like a handheld remote then I recommend checking out the Bulldog Utility Winch # BD54FR which has a port that you plug the handheld up to when you need to use it.

Yes, the Superwinch LT2000 Electric Utility Winch # 1120210 would work well for you. As the 2,000 lb rated line pull of this winch can handle 10,000 lbs of rolling weight at a 10 percent incline so you should be more than good. • Where to Run Ignition Switch Wire from ATV Winch Rocker Switch if Installed on a Trailer
The ignition switch wire on the Superwinch ATV winch # 1120210 requires a 12 volt connection. Basically it is designed to only let power go through the switch when the ignition is powered on. Since you are not using it on an ATV it would have to be connected directly to a constant 12 volt source. There isn't any other way unless you first ran that wire to a different switch, such as # PK34213. When off it would be as if an ATV was off. When on it would be as if the ATV was running.

You could put a winch in a toolbox but the winch will have to be attached to the frame of the trailer somehow, either directly or via a steel plate that spans the distance between the frame rails. The toolbox itself will not be strong enough. The line pull of a winch will have to come out straight at least 12 inches from the winch before making any turns. So because the top of the C-channel is 6 inches above the top of the frame the line would have to exit the toolbox, go out 12 inches...
