Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk or rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Excellent product and installation inst ructions

by:
2013 Ford Edge

Wiring was straightforward, exactly as in video and quite easy. It was not hard at all to modify install and run the wires on the interior inside the door sills instead of zip tied underneath the vehicle. Also easily added the wiring adapter to the hitch for a clean look. I wouldn't hang the wires, pinched under the back door, not when it was this easy to add the mount and adapter. Either get the flat mounting bracket or upgrade to the dual as I did.

by:

Installation of this wiring harness on my 2013 Ford Edge was fairly easy, the install video provided by etrailer.com was easy to follow and gives a step by step process. Instead of running the main power wire under the vehicle I chose to run it inside. The wire tucked nicely under the panels along the driver side, there’s a grommet that goes right into the engine bay above the pedals under the driver side fire wall. Also opted for the adapter #37175 to avoid running the 4 pole flat wire under the tailgate. The install for the wiring harness took approximately an hour

by:

Was pretty easy to install with help of the online videos. Did have to make a slight alteration as I could not get the plug thru the passenger side opening on my particular model.

by:

Superb customer service! Never seen be tter!

by:

I actually haven't installed the wiring yet. Hitch is solid tho

by:

T-One wiring harness was the best purchase I could invest for my vehicle. etrailer has great prices and was pleased their website listed qualify wiring installation companies. etrailer will continue to be my go to for anything relating to vehicle wiring or lighting.

2014 Ford Edge

Bought my 2014 Edge new with a hitch but no wiring harness (bike rack only). Over time came to realize I could really use the wiring harness. Did an Internet search, etrailer came up, found the harness I wanted, the video was the clincher for me. I'm a DIY'er but not so much on cars. Followed the video instructions, even bought the silicon sealer and tester. I ran the battery wire under the car and this was the only challenge for me as I do not have a lift, so laying on my back on a cold winter day took a bit longer than expected. Product delivery was prompt, fair price, very happy with this purchase.

by:

Although I have not installed this yet, I will rate excellent based on prior experience. This is the 4th hitch & wiring from Etrailer in the past 8 years that I have purchased and installed. 2 for my cars, one for a relative and one for my fiancee. All have been easy to install, excellent quality, with superior support and service.

Fantastic. Love it. This is the 4th I purchased and installed.

by:

I bought my "made to fit" hitch and wiring from you a year ago. It was the second time I bought a hitch and wiring from you (I traded that vehicle for this one). I both cases the hitch and wiring fit right, worked right and were easy to install using your video tutorials. You all do a great job over there. Keep up the good work. Ok...one suggestion only: the hitch for my old Saturn Vue came with a rubber cover for the receiver but the one for my Ford Edge didn't so I bought one at [outdoor and homegoods store]. I suggest always including one with a hitch. Thanks again for being a solid, reliable company with good products that work as advertised.

Isn't working. I believe it is wired correctly but not getting the functions to work at the 7 blade except one that lights the tester up and stays on. Have not tried to diagnose yet.

Have you had a chance to test/diagnose the wiring? We would need to know the results of this testing in order to better assist you.

by:

My order arrived quickly, (3 days) was correct and installed exactly as in the video! I did choose to route the power wire internally and slipped it through the firewall alongside the factory wiring harness. Start to finish took about two and a half hours for the hitch and wiring. Excellent service, quality and instructions! I would definitely recommend etrailer, and will use them again for my next hitch.

One year later everything still works perfectly. Ive towed half a dozen different trailers with no issues.

by:

Wiring harness has been installed and tested with the trailer. No problems with either. I am disappointed that the instructions say to run the trailer end of the wiring out of the vehicle through the tailgate gasket when there is a more professional way to easily get the flat connector outside with no worry about pinching the wiring in the tail gate opening.

This is the second time I've used etrailer.com, and frankly, I'm blown away at how great this place has been in 1) having what I need and 2) delivering it more quickly than they promise. etrailer is neck and neck with Amazon in ease of use and delivery (in my opinion), and that's really saying something.

As for this particular product, I'm very pleased. It was delivered as seen in the pic and was relatively simple to install. The only downside was that the screw used to afix the ground wire was missing from the package, and the instructions were lacking -- in fact, they miss the final step of the installation.

Again, I'm very happy with my experience and will use etrailer.com for any and all of my future needs.

2012 Ford Edge

I Limited version of the 2012 Edge and while the left-side installation was easy, the right-side would not snake throgh the sidewall between the chasis and the interior side panels due to the sub-woofers use of the same space. I ended up cutting the red and green wires about 4ft from the T-connector and using butt-terminals and shrink wrap. I took the opportunity to add a protective sheath over the wire all the way back to the light assembly. Also, the instructions don't tell you that the two plastic trays in the cargo area are easily lifted out. They are kept in place by a few guide pins. The hardest part is running the wire from the battery back to the control module. The instructions want you run the wire through the interior of the car, but I added about 16ft. of protective sheath and ran the wire behind the battery, down the fire wall and along underside of the chasis. There is a plastic rock guard that runs down the drivers side and I tie-wrapped the wire above that. From the underside of the car, you can't see the rubber gromet that is above the left-rear heat shield. Just send a fish down from the cargo bay and pull the wire through. Works great and I'm glad to know that the car's electronics are separated from the trailer wiring.

2013 Ford Edge

Folks, I received my hitch (Draw-Tite 75992) and my wiring harness (118515) the other day, the box wasn't in the best of shape however, the contents were in good shape. I utilized the matched video to install both hitch and harness with ease. It took me about 2 hours and 15 minutes for both and really enjoyed the installation. The bolt guides designed to thread the hardware through the frame were geniuos and made the process easier. This hitch assembly works great with my tent trailer and utility trailer. I give these products a five star rating and would recommend to everyone. Thank you, Marshall

2012 Ford Edge

Before ordering, I read the other reviews and people were all very impressed with this wiring kit. I must say that I agree, the fit, cable lengths, and quality of the harness is excellent. I also appreciated the video on this website that showed the installation process in a vehicle like mine. Very nice that it fits into the manufacturer's wiring by just plugging in and not having to splice wires, so there was little chance of connecting the wrong wires or of them not being a solid connection. Wiring the power line to the battery was the hardest part, but not too bad. I ran the line through the passenger compartment under the rocker panel trim and then fished it into the engine compartment even though the directions said to route it underneath the vehicle. I also routed the 4 pin trailer connector down under the car by the trailer hitch where the instructions said leave it inside and let it dangle out the hatch when in use. These were a couple of things that made my installation a little neater and cleaner. I wouldn't hesitate to order one of these again!

by:
2013 Ford Edge

The product is good. Installation is a bit of pain. 4 Stars because my kit was missing the sheet metal screw as well. Really not a big deal, especialy since I had a bunch laying around.

I found installing the hitch iteself, without a lift or ramps, easy. I found having to try and snake the power cable from the battery to back of the truck, without a lift or ramps, a pain. That is not really a fault of the product, and I guess if I wanted to I could have pulled trim and run it inside the truck. Other than that, easy install.

  • Does Power Wire for Trailer Wiring Harness have to Go to Battery on a 2013 Ford Edge SE
There are several reasons why you are not supposed to use any other power source to install a powered trailer wiring harness such as # 118515. First, attaching the wire to the vehicle battery is part of what gives the circuit protection between the vehicle and trailer wiring. If that wire is installed anywhere else you will lose that protection. Second the converters are not tested with or rated for a connection to any other power source. Installing it in a manner different from the instructions...

I can understand not wanting to drill holes to mount a hitch, though the Draw-Tite # 75728 is only a fit the Sport model and will be unable to fit your 2014 Ford Edge SEL. I did double check with the manufacturer for you just to be certain. So to add a hitch to your '14 Edge SEL you will need to drill 17/32" holes in your frame rails for installation.
