Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

The hitch fit on my 2005 Lexus RX330 with no problems. It took only about 15 minutes to install by myself. (no helper) . The wiring harness ( Part # 118478) installed as advertised. The vidio provided by e.trailer was a big help. All lights worked with no problems.

I ordered and installed a trailer hitch complete with wiring on our Lexus SUV last year.
As it was made specially for the vehicle, it was a perfect fit using the existing frame holes. I watched a couple videos for the wiring harness install, then proceeded easily to hook up the harness under the length of the vehicle and used the supplied connectors. You need to be able to jack up the car with a floor jack and safety stands in the rear first. Then let the rear down, jack up the front and finish securing the harness along the framing. Then let the car down and finish the simple hook up to the battery ( Of course if your battery is in the rear you will be done faster. ) I like the product, enjoyed doing the install myself.

Ford Edge

I recently purchased my third trailer hitch from e-trailer for personal use. The hitch is relatively easy to install, but the wiring can and could be more difficult,. But with e-trailer you tube instillation for different cars, makes it almost a joy.

However, I don't have access to a lift, and must do the driveway thing. I also did a modification with the wiring. I measured, and remeasured a couple of times to see if it could a better looking and fixed position rather than having the tell tale appearance with the colored wiring hanging out the tailgate.

I double wrapped that wiring with electrical tape and used the plug that is behind the wheel, and about ten inches forward of the hole with the power wire.

I removed the plug, cut a hole 1/8 X 3/8, and then cut a line from the outer edge of the plug to that hole. That size worked perfectly for the glued together four wires as a single flat wire. then I went down thru it with the cut toward the front of the car so as to not create a gap in the plug that could widen with the pressure of the wire(s). I then went toward the back of the top inf the hitch bracket where there was a indentation with a fixed small split rubber hose to minimize wiring abrasion, then over toward the center of the hitch.

I'm now waiting for the mounting plate for the small bracket (which I have), mounting in a fixed position where it will not be subject to items such as tree limbs etc, and other road debris...won't bother the wiring.

Also, when wiring to the battery post, with the movie clip as suggested, there's a small little 1/2 X 1/2 piece to be broken/cut out of the cover plate for the positive end of the battery cable...otherwise the cover won't snap down on both wires.

Also saw a previous comment about the receiver part being a nuisance bumping the leg. From previous (e-trailer) hitches, I have a receiver light that is much softer than the hitch receiver, and has a rubber foam surround. The plastic light is much less injurious.

The hitch and wiring is no less well engineered.

Thank you for your ability for shipping.

I ordered the hitch about 1530 one afternoon, and received the hitch the next day around 1430...less than one day via UPS...excellent service.

Written instructions are INCOMPLETE! WATCH THE VIDEO!

I purchased this brand over the Curt product simply because the written instructions were clearer. Or so I thought.....(See "Installation Details" PDF at the end of the respective product descriptions and compare for yourself).

During installation, I found an additional plug on the RH side of the vehicle that wasn't mentioned in the instructions. Not knowing what to with it, and being in somewhat of a hurry, I let it be. And then I forgot about it.

After installation I asked my wife to check all the lights on the trailer as I hit the switches in the car (Me: "Right turn?" She: "Yup!", etc, etc), so I thought all was well.

So we hooked-up the trailer and headed-out.

About an hour later we were pulled over by one the "Boys In Blue" who said the brake lights on our trailer didn't work. "Can't be", I thought to myself. Sure enough- nothing! (Thankfully we were close to home again, he seemed to be sympathetic and understanding, and so he let us go w/o giving us a ticket.).

When we got home I looked at the instructions again, and I did everything right!

However, the installation video (around the 2:30 mark), AS WELL AS THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CURT PRODUCT, explain where this other/second plug gets connected. Trust me, it's not immediately apparent where it goes, but had I had PROPER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS I wouldn't have made this mistake in the first place!

Everything seems to work fine now, but shame on T-One for providing incomplete instructions (and shame on me for forgetting about that plug).

The hitch fits perfectly. Arrived without a scratch on it. I installed it myself (with the help of my floor jack) and was easy. The only "hitch" was that after I had almost completed the install,, I saw that if I had tightened the bolts all the way, the spare tire might have been pinched by the hitch cross member and maybe not been able to be freely lowered. So I had to loosen the bolts and pull the tire cover clear while I tightened the bolts to complete install. The wiring took longer than the video shows only because of access. But running it forward to the battery was no problem. The videos were very helpful, though. And, everything works perfectly. Thanks, E-Trailer.

by:

The lighting system worked well after I bypassed the main box and sort of followed the directions on the video. The hitch did not completely fit. I was only able to get 5 out of the 6 bolts in because the hitch was not welded correctly to align with the vehicle (I verified that I had ordered the correct hitch for my vehicle and that my frame was not bent). Then after really pulling on the hitch I was able to get the 6th bolt in yet was still unable to fully tighten it down because the hole was too close to the side plate. It works, but I feel like it could have been so much smoother if the hitch welding was aligned properly and the electrical kit instructions were more clear for my vehicle (again, I checked to make sure that I ordered the proper kit).

by:

Hi Mike . . . received the 'hitch' on Saturday, March 14th, 2015.

Everything in the box was complete. It took me about 45 minutes to install - there were no problems except I had to borrow a 'breaker bar' from my neighbor to remove the two 'pull hooks' that were attached to my frame from the factory. I was amazed how easy the frame mounted with the provided brass bolts fitting EXACTLY into the holes in the frame.
The instructions were perfect! I am 74 yrs old and used a heavy duty box to hold up the other end of the hitch while I attached the left side - a little easier to get to the frame than the 'exhaust' side.
The 'wire harness' was another story. The instructions were very tiny and I could not grasp how to hook up the various electrical connections. . . Oh well, I will pay out $80 to have the electrical mounted by our local garage in town.
I would still give eTRAILER an 'A' for a excellent, sturdy, attractive hitch that will do a great job for me. Many thanks to Mike S for his assistance in purchasing this item. Give him a raise!!!

Bought a plug and no cutting or other wiring problems trailer wiring kit for my auto trailer hitch. I simply gave them my auto info and got the right kit. Followed a utube video and everything worked perfectly. Jumped into the car and headed to Arizona with lights blazing. Thanks etrailer.

2004 Lexus RX 330

Pretty easy to install although I did ask my auto maintenance dude to put it up on his lift and run the wire underneath from trunk to battery as I'm past my years of climbing under cars!
WORKED LIKE A CHAMP TO MOVE MY OLDEST VIA U-hAUL trailer from NW Florida to Nashville with no issues.

Lexus RX 330

I was impressed with the quick delivery and the kit contained everything needed for installation. All of the wiring was sized perfectly for a RX330 and installation (with re-assembly) took about 3 hours. I ran the power wire on the inside of the car (driver side under the step-in covers) and used an electrician's fish tape to help pull the wire from front to back. I definitely recommend this kit for other Lexus RX330 owners.

by:

I had a shop install your kit, they said they normally use your product. It works as it should

by:

The hitch was on in 15 minutes and fits perfectly and does not limit the spare tire at all. Nice design though I wish it did not stick out from the bumper, but there is no other way because of how the car is made. The wiring kit is great and well designed. Getting the panels off to get to the vehicle wiring is the biggest hassle and the double sided tape did not stick. But it all hooked up and works great. Thanks etrailer for a great product!

The trailer hitch wiring harness for my Lexus RX330 was exactly as suggested and went in as easy as the video showed. The wiring plugs fit easily in the cars existing sockets. Package was delivered on time and had all the necessary parts included in the box. Great product and it works—what a concept!

Trailer wiring was so easy but the last part sucks you have to run a wire all the way to the front under vehicle to battery. But not matter which one you get you will need to do that. Lexus should of thought a little. Watch the video on how to install

  • Factory Trailer Wiring for 2005 Lexus RX330
I'm unaware that the RX330 was available with factory trailer wiring. Must be a pretty rare option. The photo you provided certainly shows a 4-pole trailer connector. If the wiring harness shown in the photo came with your RX330 when it was new, then there should be a connector somewhere at the rear of the vehicle for the harness to plug in. It looks like there's a grommet on the harness, so the connector might be behind the side panels in the cargo area or in the well where the spare...

Yes, you do have the correct part. The Tekonsha # 118255 is the correct harness for your 2010 Lexus RX350, but I think you might be looking in the wrong spot.
