Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Installed in 2011 Kia Sedona with reasonably ease and works great. If the control box could be a bit smaller/thinner that would be nice; it fit but with no space to spare.

Its been a year and the wiring kit has been working with no problems.

by:

It was way too easy

by:

I really can not say as I was never able to use it. After installing it, the car was in an accident and all was surrendered as a total loss. I have since replaced the car but have not yet replaced the hitch. Having second thoughts.

Just got the trailer wiring kit (Tekonsha - model # 118410) yesterday afternoon and installed in a few hours (by myself) today. I did use the car jack to help with the wiring, but otherwise it’s pretty straight forward. The installation video for this part that’s provided on the Etrailer website is very useful. Anyhow, this wiring kit works well. I’ll write a review if I have any issue in the future, but otherwise, it works great.
Thank you to Etrailer for the great customer service, good products and instructional videos.

The product has been working well without any issues. I use my trailer regularly. I am very satisfied with this T-one product. I definitely recommend to others who are interested in getting this product.

2011 Kia Sedona

The printed installation instructions were fine, although there are better ones on YouTube, including some vehicle-specific shortcuts.

This wiring harness is a replacement for the previous T-One harness, which had the controller die after only three years.

I see that there is a redesigned controller on this one. Hope it is more durable.

Working as expected, and hope to get more than 3 years of use out of this one, as was the case with the first T-One harness.

2008 Kia Sedona

One positive, you did ship promptly. Every time I plug in the trailer the fuse to the interior lights blows, trailer lights are ok.
I paid Kia shop 100 $$ to tell me this. he tested all circuts and they were fine. I didn't have another $100 to take the trailer and try again.
This was the 3rd wiring product we ordered. the first was quickly burned out . so we bought a new trailer and tried your product, not happy. and you advertised it was exactly for this 08 Kia Sedona, custon fit you say. Any suggestions or improvements from your experts would be appreciated.
sorry no pictures.

The harness you purchased is indeed compatible with a 2008 Kia Sedona. What youve describe indicates that theres a short somewhere in the trailer wiring. Youll need to begin at the trailer connector, and trace each circuit until it terminates at its lamp. Look carefully for pinched wires and loose connections. Look for nicks, cracks and worn spots in the wire insulation. If the copper conductor grounds out to the trailer frame, youll keep cooking taillight converters or blowing fuses forever until the problem is located and repaired. Check the bulb sockets in each lamp as well. A corroded bulb socket could also cause the problem you mentioned. Ill also link you to some troubleshooting articles that you might find helpful.

The tow kit the dealer installed in my 2011 Kia Sedona when it was new went sour after four years, so I bought the etrailer kit to replace it, figuring that the dealer would soak me hundreds of dollars to do the job and just put in another problem kit (I discovered that the kit they put in the new car had even been tampered with). The etrailer kit was reasonably priced, came with all the documentation and parts I needed and then some, is perfectly compatible with my vehicle, and works fine.

One year later, the kit still works fine.

Everything about my eTrailer experience has been absolutely first class, including the follow up emails, 2 of them. Due to a medical problem it's taken me over a year to complete the installation but that's on my end. I installed the hitch and wiring harness in May of 2016. I just now got to running the power wire up to the battery and finishing the job today, 8/2/17. Again, all due to issues on my end. The product, the personal assistance, and the videos made this job as easy as it could be for this 68 year old putting a hitch on a 2012 KIA Sedona by himself. Thanks to eTrailer for running a most excellent company in every regard.

by:
2008 Kia Sedona

Easiest job I’ve ever done with a wiring harness, and I didn’t have access to a lift. I just hope I did it right going by the suspension. The online video didn’t show that very well.

2008 Kia Sedona

I purchased a trailer hitch, wiring harness, brake controller and all the additional necessary wiring for my 2008 Kia Sedona. Other than issues I encountered unrelated to the items I purchased, everything installed smoothly and continues to operate as expected after 6 months. I would definitely recommend this site to anyone. In addition, their on point instructional videos made things even easier than I could have hoped.

by:
2012 Kia Sedona

Made the wiring so much easier, the kit was very complete. I did use several additional zip ties for the battery wire as I secured it in a lot of places along the under side of the Kia van.

This harness is well designed, comes with just enough wire to go where it need to go, and works perfectly! The instructions weren't very helpful, but a video on the etrailer.com website took me through it step by step. Overall very happy with the product!

by:

It does exactly as it’s suppose to do. I’ve recently added a 7-way adapter and brake controller item # 39523 and added it to this product and works outstanding. All of which came from etrailer.com as does all my hitches and wiring needs.

2007 Hyundai Entourage

The product arrived quickly and well packaged. The directions are clear and easy to follow. I have not needed customer support.

One area could use improvement. The directions give precise directions on how to route the cable across the back of the van under the bumper skirt. The much longer run, the power line from the back of the van to the battery under the hood, simply says to route the line avoiding hot, sharp or moving parts. Suggestions for doing this would have been appreciated.

The directions also indicate that the control box, which is about the size of a playing card and the thickness of an Iphone, gets mounted below the left tail light -- it will actually fit into an existing recess in the tail light enclosure. This is a better placement because it is totally out of the weather and there is no possibility that the double sticky tape will give way and allow the control unit to drop toward the road.

In conclusion, it seems to be a well made and packaged unit which was reasonable to install (time about 90 minutes) and performs as advertised. I would recommend it to a friend.

2008 Kia Sedona

Very good product, shipping with tracking, etc. For me, the video clip was more helpful than the written instructions for my specific vehicle.

A word to the wise for 2008 Kia Sedona owners: if you're also going to install a Hidden Hitch (70761) at the same time, be sure to watch the video for both installations first. About halfway through the wire harness install, you need to remove four plastic screws from the bumper flange. It would be a lot easier to do that before you install the hitch, as the hitch blocks the two center screws.

by:
2010 Kia Sedona

Works well, and the video helped with the installation. Be aware that removing the taillights is not as easy as it appears in the video. You have to yank and pull and pry around to get the pins on the lights that go into grommets in the body to let go. I thought I was going to break those plastic pins until I saw that they went into the grommets on an angle. Be careful and it will be okay.

by:
2008 Hyundai Entourage

I got the wiring kit for a 2008 Hyundai Entourage van. It took at least 2 hours to install. Running the power wire from the battery to the left rear light was the hardest and dirtiest part. I cleaned off the under coating and hot glued the wire to the undercarriage and then put silicone over that. I didn't like the idea of the wire running near the fuel tank. Worked for me. You have to fish the wires through the bumper / body to get to the lights. It wasn't that easy to do. Also that bumper facia part is hard to get off being like jammed up under the van. Oh, I also soldered the wires, I've had problems in the past with corrosion with the crimp on connectors. Whatever, it got done and works. Sorry, no pictures, can't bring myself to crawl under there again today.

by:

Because wiring a vehicle for trailer lights was an entirely new task for me, I had some doubts it would turn out well. The instructions were very helpful and the job was successfully completed in a few hours. Working without a lift and working while lying on the floor under the van made things more difficult. I may have shorted out the battery. Be sure to disconnect the negative terminal before makeing any connections on the positive side. Bottom line is that etrailer is a good vendor to do business with.

by:

No problem with the product. Getting the tail lights off was a little trickier than what it shows on the video. I pulled the first one off at the wrong angle and put a small crack in it. When you pull it, pull it more perpendicular to the side of the car then parallel (straight to the rear).

A few more wire ties in the kit would be nice, but maybe I went overboard.

by:
2009 Kia Sedona

Installed the wiring harness yesterday and had no issues with the harness itself. Have a 09 Kia Sedona and it was a pain to install the line to the battery and the line to the passenger side taillight. Getting the wire to the battery was a pain to get from the back bumper area past rear suspension. For the passenger side taillight, getting the wires up to the light was the hard part. There is a black plastic piece that goes on the underside of the bumper, took that off and it became much easier to get the wire up.

by:

Took me almost a year to get around to installing. I was nervous that I would run into something I couldn't figure out. The instructions provided with the product were very clear and the only challenge was around routing wires through the tail light area. Product works great. Definitely recommend!

Item 118410--My son installed the wiring harness for the hitch we purchase from you last week. All needed parts were included and the instructions via internet were very helpful. I needed the hitch and wiring to tow my fishing boat--all is well, Thank you!

I actually reviewed the wiring harness with the Curt hitch but I will repeat myself and say that the youtube video provided by etrailer.com was very helpful in installing the wiring. Everything arrived in good time and it was an easy install (for my neighbor)
