Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

One year later review. Everything hitch, wiring harness, receiver and ball even the rubber receiver cover are great. The product arrived timely and installed it with the help of floor jack (it’s heavy and I’m 69 yrs old) no problems. Holes were perfect and wire harness was plug and play. Very Happy

The delivery of my hidden hitch trailer receiver, wiring harness, and hitch receiver cover for my 2010 Jeep Commander arrived quickly, the instructional on-line video was super helpful, and the installation was extremely easy. I am very pleased with the product and the customer service. Thank you.

by:

I installed the wiring harness per instructions and ran the right side wiring in back of the hitch and zip tied it to the cross member. It isn't going to move or chafe at that point. I tested it on a test light and it works fine. I have it all buttoned up with no hanging wires. I did notice that there was no two sided tape provided as they had written in the instructions there would be. I provided my own.. and longer zip ties for the cross member. I also provided my own grounding screw as the one provided was short and the head wasn't wide enough for the ground connection. Other than that, it installed quickly.

by:
2006 Jeep Commander

Super easy to install, more than enough wire to maneuver around obstacles. I would suggest having more zip ties on hand than were provided in the package. No issues with the 4-pole connector, I've had it attached to three different trailers and no problems. With other connectors I've had to mess with the pins to align properly, but not this one. Well done!

2006 Jeep Commander

I chose to use the OEM hitch and bezel for my Commander. I simply prefer the look. However, the OEM wiring is an absolute pain to install. It runs the entire length of the vehicle, and requires a computer flash from the dealer to make it work. I had the T-One harness installed in about a half hour, never used my wire stripper, and it works great. The kit looks to be of great quality, and the instructions were easy to follow. I would suggest a package of wire ties to secure everything. I finished off the installation with 30717 end connector. It mounted prefectly to the factory hitch, and gives an OEM look.

I couldn't be happier , easily installed very simple . Very good product

I purchased the complete kit for my 2007 Commander. The Hitch was a breeze to install.I picked up 12' of 3/8' heat resistant flex tubing to protect and organize the wiring and with some extra cable ties had the whole job done in under to two hours.Great product. The order was shipped and arrived in under three days. The Communication was first class.I would recommend e trailer if you want to save on installation and do it yourself. You get the peace of mind that the job was done well.

2010 Jeep Commander

I shopped the online auto parts stores and called the Jeep dealer for a custom trailer wiring harness for my 2010 Jeep Commander. I found that the parts were either universal or too expensive. etrailer.com had the right part at the right price.

I decided to tackle the harness installation after watching the video that was provided in an email from etrailer.com. Installation from start to finish took less than 20 minutes. I even impressed myself with the foolproof installation.

This is the 2nd time that I have ordered parts from etrailer.com and it will not be the last. I can always count on etrailer.com for quality parts at a great price. The customer service is not too shabby either.

2007 Jeep Commander

I ordered a Hidden Hitch receiver and T-One wiring harness. Both were easy to install, good price, extremely fast shipping. The receiver was installed in less than 30 minutes, and the wiring harness in about 45 minutes. No problems, perfect fit.

The trailer hitch and wiring arrived as predicted. Instructions were perfectly clear. Installation was a snap. Very happy withe the online service and products.

This hitch and wiring harness I purchased from etrailer was a breeze to install. It took me 30 minutes to do it by myself and only took that long because I had to slide in some shims on the hitch. Great product, great service. Thanks!!

If you think you can hand wire a Jeep Commander and make it work...stop thinking and buy this wire harness. I tried to splice and hand wire the Jeep with no success. The brakes run separately from the turn signals on a Jeep Commander, which is why you cannot splice in trailer wiring. Simply plug in the wiring harness and presto, it works. Thanks eTrailer for the great value on this product.

by:

The easiest way to wire for a trailer hitch I’ve ever seen… No cutting and splicing wires no soldering just plug them in and use them thanks for the simplicity

Just fine. no trouble

by:
2007 Jeep Commander

Easy as pie, installed and zip-tied in 30 minutes. Unit should come with more zip-ties, I used about 12 ( maybe a few overkill ).

One thing I did was remove one of the 13mm bolts from the spare tire carrier to route the driver to passenger cable behind the metal carrier ( which follows the already present wire harness ). This made the install a little cleaner.

by:
2008 Jeep Commander

Before installation I watched the video which was more informative that the directions. The harness is easily installed by unplugging and plugging. I installed this harness along with a hitch and the whole job took about an hour. Works great and had fast delivery.

by:
2007 Jeep Commander

The wiring kit was very good quality and fairly easy to install. The only issue I had was the wires feeding over to the passenger-side light was too short. Actually, if you stretched the wiring straight across back of bumper it did reach. However, if you wanted to do a better job and route with factory taillight wiring it would not reach. I finally decided to splice in a section of wire and do the job right.

Jeep

Very nice plug and play setup here. Many folks with the Jeep SUV's using the dealer wiring package have to have the Jeep "flashed" by the dealer to get the lights to work post install.

This was super easy to plug in, lights work as they should, no visit to the dealer to get a "flash".

I think I spent more time zip tying the excess out of the way than the actual install.

This is a great product. Definitely recommend it.

The kit was complete with clear instructions. The instructions also included tips to help avoid potential pitfalls during installation. The vehicle I installed lights on was a Jeep Commander and thus was a little more complicated than most. Due to a good product and clear instructions, I was done in less than 20 minutes from start to finish.

Product was a perfect fit for my nephews 2006 jeep commander., If you follow the instruction that were provided with the kit it is a very simple job even if you are not really a "car guy". The beauty with this harness is the simple "plug&play" and no need to cut into factory harness and has water tight almost factory like plugs.. I would recommend this harness even if you are going to have your mechanic install it he will Thank you.. Sincerely, Bill Jennings

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118408 which fits your 2006 Jeep Commander will give you a 4-flat harness. A 4-way is a standard harness on trailers without brakes and it simply plugs into your Jeep's 4-way to power the trailer's lights.

I reviewed the installation instructions for this hitch (they are attached for your reference along with a video) and there is no mention made of any trimming of the bumper fascia. The tongue weight capacity is 750 lbs, making the strongest hitch available for your vehicle. Installation will be very easy.
