For the most part this is a good cargo bag. Easy to install and remove. Only issue is zipper has broken

It sounds like the bag has gotten some use. it does have a limited lifetime warranty which would include the zipper. I can send you the warranty detail if you want them.

I've used this once and it met my expectations. We will use this rooftop bag once or twice per year. I have not used it in rainy weather so I cannot say anything about the water resistance. It seems like a quality item. The seams, zippers and fabrics are sturdy. It is a bag that straps on to your cars roof rack. It does free up space inside the car. Thule nailed it.

by:

Product is as advertised. At 13 cubic ft it is not big. It is easy to attach and rode securely for 1300 miles. It is not waterproof, but it does not claim to me. Stow in a small package when not in use.

by:

I just used this bag again for a camping trip and a year later this bag has held up so well and extremely useful especially as our family has grown and having less room in our car. Super easy to take on and off does not make any sounds while driving and you just don't have to worry about it and then go. Love how you can adjust it to the amount of contents you have in there. You will be able to fit a good amounnt of stuff but cannot load it with numerous large suite cases or anything.

by:

It fits perfectly between the cross bars of our toyota highlander. We did use a couple of bungee cords to help secure it, and it held up well from Texas to South Carolina and then back to Texas. In rain it did collect some water, but we expected that and had only put beach chairs and a foldable wagon in the cargo carrier that could get wet.

by:

We love our rooftop cargo bag. It fits perfectly on my daughters Honda CR-V and she’s used it many times to transport her things back and forth to college.

You guys are GREAT

by:

Fits roof rack perfectly, appears to be very high quality and is surprisingly very light weight.

by:

Love the cargo bag. Love the fast shipping provided by etrailer. What else can be said.

by:

Well worth the money. Goes up in a snap and stores quite a bit without the annoying flapping in the wind of some other products. I recommend it!

by:

The product arrived promptly and looks to be just what I need. I haven't used it yet but will when we go on vacation. I will definitely buy from etrailer again.

by:

Superb quality, rugged materials!

by:

I really like this bag. Fits basket! And you can stuff a lot into it. Not hard to take on and off. We did not have any issues with rain either!

by:

The waterproof outer shell quickly (after a couple months) developed small holes/cracks that slowly seep water in the rain. The bag therefore lost its water resistant feature. Otherwise the bag is easy to install, lightweight (compared to hard shell alternatives), and I found it reasonably easy to access, open, and close. Before the small holes, the bag was water resistant. I took it on a trip in the rain and there were no leaks.

I bought this just over a year ago. I travel full time pulling a travel trailer and have had the Thule Interstate cargo bag on the roof sitting in a Thule Canyon XT cargo basket. The reason I purchased this bag over others is that it doesn’t use soft PVC in its construction. Soft PVC has a demonstrably harmful impact on all living organisms and the planet, from its production to the final product. It’s toxic through and through. The Thule bag uses a TPE lining, which is much safer on every level. I commend Thule for using it. Unfortunately, after less than a year of use, this bag proved incapable of protecting its contents from rain. Everything inside gets soaked after a rainfall. The items I’d stowed in it, e.g. camp furniture, solar panel, are now secured in the cargo basket and exposed, because at least then they can dry out afterwards. I wish I could, but because of its inability to keep it’s contents dry, I can’t recommend this cargo bag.

by:

I bought this for a trip going from southern CA to Eugene OR. We used this with our Honda Odyssey with factory side rails only. We used it for our luggage because we placed bicycles inside the cargo space in our van. I would say we used about 75-80% of the cargo capacity of the bag. Didn’t notice too much wind noise. The fuel economy seemed to drop 1 maybe 2 mpg. We averaged 70-75 mph. I think when you have headwind is where you’ll notice a drop, otherwise I didn’t see much change cruising around 65-70.
We also encountered heavy rain on the freeway once we were in Oregon. When we arrived at our destination, the contents in our luggage was dry, however the floor of the bag was moist.
I also have used this for our 4Runner when we go camping to store extra items such as a plastic tote bin, tents, and other small bags.

The straps work really well to secure the bag.
It is easy to set up and remove from the vehicle when not in use.
It’s easy to clean.

Only concern would be if you stopped over night at a hotel, there is no security to keep anyone from opening the bag. I suppose you could add a luggage lock to the zipper, but just something to consider…

So far this has worked really well and highly recommend this product.

  • Roof Cargo Bag for Toyota Corolla With No Roof Rack or Rails
The Thule Outbound # TH868 is designed to be strapped low to crossbars or roof rails. Strapping it directly through vehicle is not approved by Thule. I checked with Thule and none of their bags are designed for naked roof mounting. A cargo bag of similar size that is approved for naked roof mounting is the Rightline Gear Sport 2 # RL100S20. This has a car clip that clips into the door jamb and secures the bags. I attached the review video below if you want to check that out.

  • Will the Sunroof Support a Fully Loaded Thule Cargo Bag
Vehicle manufacturers do not recommend placing any cargo directly on sunroofs. The glass was not designed to support additional weight. A better option for you would be to add crossbars to your factory side rails and use a roof basket and a cargo bag or a roof mounted cargo box. This would keep the load off of the sunroof and allow you to carry more weight. Based on your photo, it appears that you have a GMC Acadia. There are different roof rack options depending on the year of your...

Thanks for reaching out! The Thule Outbound Rooftop Cargo Bag # TH868 measures 36" long x 36" wide x 17" tall which should be just fine for it to fit between the side rails but since I don't have the specs of the OEM crossbars on your 2015 Subaru Forester I'm unable to confirm if it will fit between the crossbars themselves. There are several different cargo carrying options for you. You can either go with a hitch mounted cargo carrier, or install a roof rack system and use a cargo basket, bag or box.
