Tire Sensor Installation

Tire sensor Install Diagram

  1. Screw the anti-theft hex nut onto your tire's valve stem threads until it bottoms out.
  2. Screw the sensor onto the valve stem. Tighten the sensor until the air stops leaking and the sensor bottoms out on the valve stem. Give it a slight twist to seat the sensor while being careful not to over-tighten.
  3. Use the included wrench to tighten the hex nut counterclockwise until it is snug against the sensor.
  4. Screw the tire's valve cap onto the sensor.

Saw these on YouTube and knew the necessity as my brother, a long-haul truck driver and 5th wheel RVer, says TPMS is a MUST. I have 6 wheels on my 5th wheel and just got 6 new Michelins on the pickup. I now have my pickup, 5th wheel, flatbed, and all of their spare tires monitored. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing when going across Wyoming at 80mph in 100 degree heat.
(Update) 70K miles in 8 months and this TPMS system is spot on. Thank you to etrailer.com for getting the correct sensors for my system in a fast and efficient manner. Great service at a great price. Very happy with my purchase.

One year of safe travels with my TPMS system for my pickup, 5th wheel and flatbed trailer. Travel is so much more satisfying when I don’t have to stress about the tires.

by:

I've used the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier for the last year (2023) and have put over 7500 miles on it. The carrier has performed seamlessly and is still manageable when mounted 40 plus inches off the ground. I have it attached to a Torklift 5' extension that goes into a 3" receiver welded into my flatbed. To prevent bouncing I've had Torklift put in a support bracket from the lower(regular) receiver. No bounce!

by:

Does exactly what it needs to do. There was an issue with the hubcap opening not allowing installation. Had to use valvestem extensions to facilitate installation.

by:

Matches sensors received in a recently purchased tire monitoring system.

by:

Needs metal valve stems which etrailer representative says the do not sell. They are listed on their web site. After getting nowhere with etrailer representative decided to return these flow sensors. Not worth the hassle.

I apologize for any miscommunication that happened. Part # AM20906 will work together with part # TST-507-FT-S2. You just have to make sure your tire is one that is rated for a PSI that is over 100. The rim would need to have valve stem holes that are 0.453 or 0.625 inches in diameter.

by:

The weight of these add-on sensors flexed the valve stems on all four trailer wheels. Two of the four went flat during the trip. The other two I could pull the core out after we got home. The flexing caused heat in the rubber parts and disconnected the inter mail tube from the rubber. There should be a “steel stem only” notice on the product listing.

by:

I purchased this a year ago and finally installed the system prior to a long trip with my camper. Once paired the system gave us an additional sense of security as we traveled. Great product.

by:

I purchased 6 tst internal sensors for our RV with the color monitor. I also purchased 4 flow-through monitors for our jeep, which we tow. The products are awesome and saved us from destroying tires on the RV. On RV’s with dual tires in the back, the inside tires get extremely hot in high summer time temperatures. The sensors taught us not to drive when ambient temperatures are 95 or higher. We have read where numerous RV’ers have had catastrophic blowouts on inside dual tires and our tst sensors allow us to avoid those dangerous situations. We absolutely feel the product should be installed on all R’s and trailers.

by:

Would not be without a TPMS on my RV. This system has worked flawlessly. As a reminder, make sure you replace the rubber valve stems in your wheels with metal ones before installing these sensors.

One year later and could not be happier. We are full time on the road in our RV and depend on this system to alert us if we have a tire going down before we see the smoke and damage in the rear-view mirror. Over 5 years on the road, we have lost some tires, but none sense we installed this system.

by:

I have a 7 year old TST TPMS that had a misbehaving sensor. Advice from TST was to replace the sensor. eTrailer offered the sensors at a reasonable price, had them in stock and offered free shipping. The 2 sensors arrived earlier than originally estimated. Sensors have been installed and all is well in TPMS on my MH.

by:

They work great, gives tire pressure and temp. I have had the TST system for about 6 years now and the only reason I needed to replace these were due to the tire company putting them on too tight and broke them.

Great, perform flawless, remove them yourself if needing tire work done, destroyed 2 of them with excessive tightening.

by:

Warned me of a double blowout on my triple axle boat trailer so I could get off the Florida Turnpike as soon and safely as possible without destroying the rims or damage the trailer and boat.

by:

The sensors provide valuable temperature and pressure information to the dash mounted display in a five second alternating pattern. That makes it easy to read the information without distraction.

by:

The only Tire monitor system to buy! we have them on our triple axle DVR Santa Fe and our M102 Freightliner tow vehicle.

Excellent

by:

Added 4 more sensors to our existing system and programmed them as a second trailer. 1000mi road trip next week, the system has saved us on our 5th wheel, and it will be nice to have piece of mind pulling our car trailer as well.

by:

Great system! I would recommend this to anyone who is towing a RV or trailer. It does a great job monitoring pressure as well as tire temperature. Should not be towing without monitoring your tires pressure and temperature. A happy user!

by:

TST TPMS Flow Through Tire Sensors in my opinion are the best in the market place especially for rear duels on your coach. Easy to setup and maintain tire pressures. I have had this setup for a year. The TST display is second to none!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by:

Ordered these replacement sending units for the system on my motorhome. One of the existing senders went bad so now I have one as backup. Sending units had to be of the same brand of TST TPMS. Replacement was quick and easy although the locking system has changed.

by:

The TPMS for TST is overall very good. I have had the primary system for 5-6 years and it has always preformed well. However in the past year I have had 3 sensors quit working. I changed the batteries, moved them to different tire locations, even reprogramed them. The only thing that worked is replacing them. At $50 each its expensive. That makes my replacement half of all sensors on the RV. 6 in total and replaced 3. I am not unhappy but more irritated.
I also started with the black screen and upgraded to the color screen when it came out. I have sense gone back to the black screen. I cannot see the numbers being reported. I see that there is now a shield for the screen glare so I have ordered that from the company. So we shall see. Would I buy this system again? Probably not as I think the technology has improved and I am not sure where TST measures in.

by:

These are extras. I have been using these for several years. They work great.I only had one false alarm. Rebooted recieverand all was well.

All is working well.

Always get prompt and accurate service. etrailer keeps me informed regarding my order with emails and a direct contact should I have any questions. Thanks as always for great service.

by:

The TST tire sensors have saved our bacon on two separate occasions when we had a tire fail on our travel trailer. The big thing to remember for this product is the need for METAL valve stems. A definite must have piece of kit for on the road safety.

by:

Like the new sensor!. Had to replace an older (set screw) model that got damaged. New sensor coded up first try, installed easy. Very much appreciate the new locking nut versus the set screw. To be honest I never was able to tighten the old style set screws on all 6 wheels anyway. The locking nut and tool give an added sense of security. Just installed today, so no long term assessment yet.

As usual excellent service and turn time by etrailer!

by:

Adding a TPMS to all eight of our wheels was the best investment we've made in years. Twice it has alerted us to a concern that would have become an issue had we not paid attention. As we prepare to head out for a couple of months on the great open road once again, we decided it was "worth it" to run with a couple of spares in stock (since one of sensors has been a little slow to show up on the monitor and we're beyond warranty).

by:

Easy to use! Peace of mind on the highw ay.

  • Recommended Tire Pressure Monitoring System for a Tandem Axle 5th Wheel Towed By a Dually Truck
Personally, I would go with the TireMinder A1AS TPMS # TM79FR. There are a couple reasons for this. One being that the TST TPMS for RVs # TST-507-FT-6-C (or any other TST system) would require you to purchase 4 additional sensors # TST-507-FT-S2 (x2) because your 2019 GMC Sierra 3500 is a dually. While the TireMinder A1AS TPMS # TM79FR comes with 10 sensors, which is enough to cover all 6 tires on your 3500 and the 4 on your Salem Hemisphere 5th wheel. The TireMinder A1AS TPMS # TM79FR...

According to my contact at TST, there are two scenarios that would indicate a sensor failure on your TST TPMS # TST-507-FT-6-C. If the battery is dead or sensor communication is interrupted temporarily, lines or dashes "---" are displayed for that sensor on the monitor. Since the battery life on the system can be anywhere from 12 to 18 months, this is unlikely.
