Video Transcript for Saris Freedom Fat Tire Adapter Kit Review

Today I'll be showing you how to install the Saris Fat Tire Adapter Kit part number SA4419. You can see we all ready have the rack installed, now we'll just show you how to swap out the wheel trays. Now this part number is only one set of wheel trays, the manufacturer does recommend that when you're holding one bike or carrying one bike that you carry it on the cradles or saddles closest to the rear of the vehicle. We'll do is just loosen up this yellow knob, push down this yellow button and just slide the tray out. Take the new tray, slide it on and then just tighten it down. Now here on the other side you can see this wheel tray is on the inside of this arm, we are going to have to remove this arm. What we'll do here is just loosen this knob here, push down that button pop this one off and we'll use the Allen wrench and a seventeen millimeter wrench or ratchet whichever you prefer, loosen this up.

Should slide right off then we can remove this other inside wheel tray. Take the new tray, slide it on then just leave this loose so you can adjust it. Slide the arm back on and then tighten it down. If you are carrying a flat tire bike you may need to use the included straps. What we're going to do is just take this end of the strap slide it through, come back up this hole here. Then there's these little tabs in the bottom on the strap if you can see these and those going to give those tug snap this in place.

Then you'll just come around the bike and then flip it in place. Now that we have the trays installed and our straps are undone I'll go ahead and place the fat tire bike into our new wheel trays. I'll just need to adjust this back one just a little bit and with that in place, just make sure that these wheel hooks are extended all the way out. Bring this up, clamp that down then we'll finish off by bringing the cam buckle straps through the rim and spokes. Securing it with the cam buckle and with our bike all loaded up that will complete today's review of the Saris Fat Tire Adapter Kit just part number Sa4419. .

These fat bike wheel trays are excellent. Fit my 4.8 inch tires fine. Fit onto the saris rack easy peasy. Not much else to say. Does what they are made to do and easy to mount and use. I’ve also put a regular mountain bike tire in it and it holds it fine.

No changes AWSOME! Keep bringing it

So far, so good. Great customer service at eTrailer, they are easy to reach and they do try to get things right. These adapters are essential for the 60 pound bikes that the Freedom rack is designed to carry--the stock cups are just too narrow for any tires wider than about 2". Add their cost to that of the carrier--but still a reasonable price for a very solid, functional rack.

by:

This bike rack was designed for two bikes.
I
use it for one only fat tire e-bike as it is still within the weight restrictions.
It carries my bike well and I'm pleased with it's performance. My suggestion is to always be within the weight restrictions when deviating from recommended us.

by:

The fat wheel holders are very easy to install. You do have to use an Allen wrench and a 17mm wrench to remove and replace one of the clamp arms, but it’s simple. It can easily hold the 4.8” tires on my Trek Farley.

by:

The fat tire adapters for the Saris rack are excellent. You just slide the standard wheel holders off and then slide the fat tire adapters on. They work exactly like the standard wheel holders.

This product is still working well for me. My only complaint is that the tire straps and support straps can be hard to get latched. Those could have a better design. As we get older are hands are not what they used to be.

  • Will E-Bikes be Easy to Load Onto Saris Freedom 4-Bike Rack & Are Fat Tire Adapters Available
The Saris Freedom 4-Bike Rack # SA4414B is one of my favorites, and so long as you don't have any issues lifting up the bikes, it isn't difficult at all to load them behind the vertical post so your bike is closest to the hitch. The wheel trays are large and you will be able to easily place your bike right in. You can also get fat tire adapters, but can't get the rack with just one set of wheel holders for fat tires, you do need to get them extra with the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Saris...

  • E-bike Rack Recommendation for 60 lb Bikes in Class I Trailer Hitch
The Saris SuperClamp EX part # SA4025F can fit 1-1/4 inch hitches as long as they are Class II (you may have a Class I hitch so you'd need to check), it has a 60 lb per bike capacity, and can fit tires up to 4-1/2 inches wide so there's a possibility it could work for you. If your tires are fatter than 4-1/2 inch you'd need the fat tire adapter # SA4419 as well. But if your vehicle has a Class I hitch this would not be the bike rack to go with. If this is the case the best option is the...

The Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 4 Bikes item # SA4414B fits a 2" receiver and has a 60 lbs capacity per bike on the inner two holders and a 35 lbs capacity per bike on the outer two holders. The wheel mounts can slide the length of the frame to accommodate wheel bases up to 48" wide. The rubber cradles will adjust up and down to secure any size bike by the frame. If any of your bikes have fat tires you will need the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Saris Freedom Bike Racks item # SA4419. This...

  • Recommended Class I Bike Rack for Heavy E-Bikes
Thank you and welcome back! Yes, I can confirm that the Saris SuperClamp EX Bike Rack item # SA4025F and your hitch have enough capacity to carry your 55 lbs E-Bike. The Saris has a 60 lbs capacity per bike and does fit a class 1 hitch along with a class II and III if you would like to use it on different vehicles. This is a wheel mounted bike rack that fits tires up to 4-1/2" wide. It has integrated locks to secure both your bike rack and bikes from theft. The Draw-Tite Hitch item #...

  • Hitch-Mounted Bike Rack For Step-Through Bike That Allows Trunk Access On 2016 Honda Pilot
For your 2016 Honda Pilot, I recommend going with the Saris Freedom 4 Bike Platform Rack # SA4414B. This would tilt back enough to access your trunk and would not require any adapter bars for step-through bikes or alternative frames. The cradles allow up to 3" wide tires, but the Fat Tire Adapter Kit # SA4419 increases the maximum tire width to 5" if that is a concern to you. The Yakima # Y02465 would work great and will be able to give you full access to the trunk, but would likely...

  • Is the Saris SuperClamp HD # SAR44VR a Good Bike Rack to Use with My Lectric 2.0 E-Bike with Fenders
I have a great alternative bike rack for your Lectric 2.0 XP 3-inch fat bike. Unfortunately, with your fenders and rear platform, I do not recommend the Saris SuperClamp HD 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches # SAR44VR because the wheel-mount ratcheting hooks will increase the risk of damage or cracking to your fenders during transport. With that being said, the safest way to transport your bike via a hitch is by a frame-mount attachment method. For a great alternative, I recommend the...

  • Looking For Platform Style Rack for 2 e-Bikes and 2 Regular Bikes
The suitability of the racks you mentioned will depend on a few different factors. • The weight of the bikes • Do the bikes have fenders? • Do the bikes have fat tires? The Saris SuperClamp EX 4, part # SA4026F can accommodate 4 bikes. The capacity for the 2 inner most bikes is 60 lbs each, and the capacity for the 2 outermost bikes is 35 lbs each. The rack can accommodate bikes with tires up to 4-1/2 inches wide right out of the box, or if the # SA4419 fat tire adapters are added, it'll...

  • Recommended Bike Rack to Transport Step-Thru e-Bike Behind RV
We do have a nice selection of heavy-duty bike racks that can handle the weight of the RadMini e-Bike that you're considering, but the trick is finding one that is rated for use behind a motorhome. Not all bike racks (which includes the Saris Freedom # SA4412B that you mentioned) are tested and approved for use with this application, as the ride at the back of an RV is quite a bit rougher than at the rear of a standard passenger vehicle. This is simply because the hitch receiver is much...

  • Recommended 2 Bike Rack For Step-Thru Bike On 2018 Kia Niro
For your 2018 Kia Niro, I recommend the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # SA4412B. This has a weight capacity of 60lbs per bike, so you won't have any stability issues with your bikes since they are less than 60lbs each. The Saris would not require an adapter bar, however, the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 would require one. As long as your bikes are within the specs for the SuperClamp then you will have no problem fitting 4 mountain bikes on it. The weight capacity for the 2 inner positions is 60 lbs per bike and the weight capacity for the 2 outer positions is 35 lbs per bike. The Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack for Fat Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B-FB will work well for all the bikes you referenced. The fat tire cradles work fine with smaller tire widths. If you instead want the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B, then you can just trade out one set of the cradles with the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Saris Freedom Bike Racks # SA4419 and you'd be all set.

For transporting four bikes on your 2013 Honda Odyssey, I recommend the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4414B. This bike rack is a great choice for a few reasons. • What Bike Rack do You Recommend for My Cannondale Quick 3 and Treadwell EQ Remixte Bikes?
Yes, a frame-mounted design is the best way to go when you have bikes with fenders. This will allow you to avoid the unnecessary risk of damage to the fenders during transport. From the look of the specs I found for your Cannondale Quick 3 and Treadwell EQ Remixte, I discovered that these are pretty lightweight bikes. For that reason, the ramp feature on the EasyFold XT # TH903202 is not a critical aspect if you are not worried about lifting your bikes onto the platform of the rack. However,...
