Hello, trailer neighbors. I'm Steven, and today we're looking at the Replacement Shank for your Rapid Hitch Adjustable Ball Mount. Now this particular one has a 10 inch drop. Now this will work with the Rapid Hitch AM3300 or AM3400 series adjustable ball mount systems, much like the one up here above my left shoulder. So, again, this is just giving you pretty much a longer shank to give you more rise and more drop as needed. Now it is constructed of a very nice, lightweight, but durable aluminum alloy.
It's a solid piece, and it's very, very nice. It will adjust in 1-inch increments, and it's made here in the USA. As you can see, it's got a very nice polish reflective finish. A nice one-year limited warranty. It does fit 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receivers.
You can see it's got the pinhole already in there as well, and it's slanted here to make it go in and out a little bit easier if you're putting it in since it's tall and everything. And, again, you can use it in the rise or the drop position depending on your needs. The maximum rise is 11 inches while the maximum drop is 10 inches. The replacement hitch shank fits my older ball mount perfectly even though the ball mount is 20+ years old. My old shank was fine, I just needed more drop. The only issue, and it may not be worth mentioning, there was a mark (see pic) on the bottom of the 2" square insert portion indicating the use of a set screw. Probably to reduce rattle. Not a big deal and does not affect its use but it was obviously used before.

I have owned this product for at least 8 years and love the adjustablity of it. My current one has the 6 inch drop, and now with my new truck I needed the 10 inch drop! Perfect!!! Best of both worlds . Now I have unlimited adjustability.

The replacement shank fit my 20+ year old 2 X 2 516 trailer ball mount perfectly. I have towed over 20k miles with this replacement shank. Since my new truck has a class V hitch, I do need to use an adapter sleeve. This combination does produce some additional bounce, jerk and rattle but does the job perfectly well. This is worse when unloaded and adding tongue weight helps. Side note, some strategically placed welds built up on the sleeve and ground smooth, has done wonders to reduce the above mentioned issues.
