Today on our 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster crossbar style base plate kit with removable arms. This is what your flat tow can look like whenever it's all hooked up and you're ready to pull behind your motorhome. Well, before we get kinda too carried away and checking out the base plate itself, why don't we just kinda touch base and refresh yourselves on the main components that we're gonna need to safely pull our Jeep down the road. As you can see here, we have our Blue Ox base plates installed. Now this is going to allow us to flat tow our vehicle behind our motor home. However, in addition to the base plates, we're also going to need other components such as electrical to power the tail lights. Some States require a supplemental braking system. more

Hi there, Jeep owners. Today and your 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Demco's tabless base plate. Your base plate is going to be one of five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle behind your motorhome. The base plate provides a connection point for your tow bar to attach to. So in addition to your base plate, you'll also need your tow bar; which is the connection between your motor home and your vehicle, your safety cables; which is the supplemental connection, in addition to your tow bar, your diode wiring; which takes all the lighting signals from your motorhome, transfers them to your vehicle so all the lights will operate just like your motorhome so people behind you can know your intentions when going down the road, and your supplemental braking system; which will apply the brake pedal in your vehicle, using your existing brakes on the vehicle to help it come to a safe stop when you hit the brakes in your motorhome.And this is what our base plate is going to look like when it's installed. Most of it's going to be hidden behind your bumper. more

The base plate is going to attach directly to the chassis of the vehicle to give you a solid attachment point or connection point for your tow bar so you can safely flat tow your jeep behind your motor home. It's going to be one of five main components in the flat tow setup for the Jeep. Our other four main components are going to be our tow bar or tow bars are going to give us that solid connection point between our base plate on our Jeep and our RV. Our safety cables, they're going to be a secondary safety device in case our tow bar fails. more

There's going to be five main components when flat-towing any vehicle. You're going to need a base plate, you're going to need safety cables, you're going to need a tow bar, you're going to need wiring, and you're going to need a braking system. To flat-tow the Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're actually going to have six components that we're going to need, and one recommended component. You're going to need all those five components that I mentioned, plus, you're going to need a stoplight switch, and then I recommend a battery charge line kit.Let's go through each one of those components a little bit more in depth. more
