This is going to go with your supplemental braking system to make sure that you have a way to monitor the brakes in your towed vehicle while you're flat towing it down the road. But some vehicles will end up not having an active brake light switch whenever they're in tow mode. Or if you have retained accessory power, which is that function that allows you to still have your electronics working even 10 minutes after you turn off the ignition. Once that 10 minutes is up though, all the electronics turn off so that means it's also going to turn off the power to your brake light switch. more

We're going to be going over and showing you how to install the Blue Ox Patriot II Supplemental Braking System here on our 2021 Jeep Gladiator.So here's what our Patriot Braking System is going to look like installed. As you can see here on the back, we have this nice little adjustable foam pad here that sits and puts pressure on the back of our seat. On the other end there, we're going to have a claw which grabs onto our brake pedal. So once it receives the signal from the motorhome, it's going to depress a little actuator inside, put pressure on the pedal, and the brake pedal, and the brake arm. more

When flat towing your F-150, the brake light relay is needed to ensure that your turn signal is not overridden by your Brake-Lite signal. It does not interfere with your F-150's electrical system and it activates automatically so there is nothing you need to do once it is installed. And speaking of installation, let's go through it now.To start our installation, we want to pull down our dash panel. There's going to be this metal bracket mounted on the back of here, and our tabs on our plastic panel are going to be mounted on the bottom here. more

So a supplemental braking system is going to be required by law in nearly every State. Now, basically what this does is it's going to apply the brakes in our towed vehicle in relation to us applying the brakes in our motor home. So essentially it's going to help us come to a stop sooner and it's going to take some of the wear and tear off our motor homes braking system. So the Demco Stay-IN-Play is sort of unique in that it's a proportional braking system and basically what this means is, it's going to apply the brakes in our towed vehicle in a proportional amount to those in the motor home. more

Hi there, Jeep owners. Today on your 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Demco's Air Force One Supplemental Braking System. The Air Force One Supplemental Braking System is a truly proportional braking system that uses the air pressure from your motor home, transfers it to the actuator and the cylinder on the brake pedal inside of your vehicle to apply the brakes that matches the proper output on your pedal. And what this means is the harder you press the brakes inside your motor home, the harder it's going to apply the brakes in your vehicle. And likewise, when you just press them softly coming to a stop, it's going to be proportional with the brake inside of your vehicle here.The actuating unit here under the hood is going to monitor that air input from your motor home and then apply the appropriate amount out to apply the pedal in your vehicle. This unit also has wiring on it that connects to a breakaway switch so unfortunate event that you do have a catastrophic disconnect, the pin will pull and it will activate the unit using the air that is stored inside the unit from your motor home to apply the brakes in your vehicle so it can come to a safe stop.The actuating cylinder here on the pedal is tethered to the firewall and whenever it receives air from the unit, it will pressurize the cylinder and will cause it to pull the pedal towards the firewall, using the anchor point here. more

Now, essentially what the system is going to do in its most basic form is when we apply the brakes in our motorhome, it's going to also apply the brakes in our towed vehicle, helping us slow down. That way, we're not pushing it against the motorhome and we can come to an effective stop much sooner. So each braking system, is going to be a little bit different in its design. more

The Stay-IN-Play, I would comfortably say is one of the most popular braking systems we do here at etrailer, and it's for good reason.Number one, this is going to be a permanently installed kit, meaning like some of the other braking systems such as the Blue Ox Patriot, we're not going to have to really do any adjusting or installation each time we want to tow. We have a switch under the dash here that we need to hit, and aside from that, we're pretty much ready to go.The reason you may be looking at the Stay-IN-Play here, is because braking systems are actually going to be required by law in the majority of states, so you are going to have to have one for most setups, and the Stay-IN-Play here is probably one of the best options on the market. Let's go over a few reasons why I think that is.Sort of touching back on the permanent installation, most of the components we have installed are pretty much going to be out of sight. You're not really going to know they're even on the vehicle, the main unit we have is the operating unit, we have that hidden nicely in our engine bay here, towards the bottom on the frame rail. more

And the reason that is, is if your vehicle does happen to become detached from your RV, it'll apply the brakes in your vehicle, bringing it to a safe stop.The only visible part of our braking system on the outside of our vehicle is going to be our breakaway switch here and that's what initiates the brakes to be pressed if it does come detached. more
